1) Cummings Dodges/Rams are great, but you’re stupid owning one out of warranty unless you absolutely need a diesel and can’t afford a newer one. Guess what? You don’t need one. A decent sized v-8 in a 3/4 ton is enough. That money you save on the added cost of the Diesel engine can buy a lot of gas. Plus, with a diesel, engine/drive-train repair costs are exorbitant, hence the warranty comment, and general upkeep is more expensive.
2) if you’re hauling, drive that truck like you stole the damn thing until you reach highway speed. Mopar transmissions have come a long ways, but having been raised by a man who had dodge trucks (and Cummings diesels) and having owned two dodge trucks myself, I can tell you that adage holds true. If you don’t do that, it will jerk your ass to death.
3) your load isn’t all that heavy comparatively speaking. Wind resistance is your biggest problem.
4) never use anything that is an “add on” in a situation like this. If you’re not using a gooseneck trailer to haul equipment (and I can’t imagine you have any legitimate use for one), pull it and have a real fifth wheel hook up installed. If you do have a gooseneck, I doubt you need it. Sell it because a heavy duty tag along with dual axels should do just fine if you know how to properly load / balance it.

Wife and I bought a 15,000 pound, 5th wheel trailer in Sept. We need something to tow it and new pick ups cost more that the 5th wheel we bought. It's stupid. So we are looking at an older truck with sufficient horse power to tow 15,000 pounds. Its a small house, 4 slide outs. We are both in our 50s and we want to have our own house to live in as we roam from national park to national park, hitting the occasional casino.

This truck, the transmission was replaced in 2019. There is still a warranty on it (until June) which is nice. I was going to get a dually but the prices on those are (like) $10,000 MORE for the same damn truck.

I figure in 3 years, I'll replace the truck with another one, a newer model. But for right now, we just can't justify it.

We are looking for a truck to haul a boat or a small fifth wheel. I agree with DS, a V-8 nondiesel with a built in hitch will be fine.

It hasn't been a great time to buy a truck, but I think things are about to settle down a bit.

I hope you are right. Seeing 3 year old pick up trucks going for $79,999 is a bit ridiculous. What I find discouraging though is the trucker blockade in Canada, that has had a major impact on truck parts made in Canada and assembled in the USA which might further exacerbate things.

I just got the Tundra with the 4.7L V8. It will do everything I want it to do and then some - except pass a gas station. 91 octane was $4.10 a gallon here this morning

I also have that T100 I'm excited about getting started on when spring gets here. I'm taking the bed off and putting a flatbed on it.
I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

In a rural Chevy dealership outside of Greenville SC, they are selling three V-8 4WD 2020 Silverados with 50K miles for around $34K. I'm going to look at one this weekend.

If you don't have to buy now, wait until next year around this time. The manufacturers have a glut of vehicles still waiting on chips, and though car dealers won't tell you this, the manufacturers and dealers are worried they're going to be jammed with a shitload of inventory when the chip shortage gets settled out. Plus, with rates rising, people won't be buying as much. I am willing to bet you will be able to get a better deal then. I doubt you will see much more of the 0% promotional financing after this year, but I have a feeling that won't matter.

For the first time ever in all of recorded history, 50.1% of all women who are 30 have not yet had children.

that was back in the fringe period where you could a picture like that and not get a visit from the BATF or banned from social media. I wouldn't even consider doing that now.

I have never tried to mess with a flame thrower. I did build an air powered pellet machine gun a few years back.

I haven't shot a single gun during covid. I'm actually into turning wrenches more than guns.
