We drank whatever Troncel (local bootlegger; pronounced Tron-Cell) was selling out of his back door for $1 per can (he was nice enough to give the cans to you in a generic convenience store plastic bag) or whatever was cheapest at the Arab store (actually owned by Persians) by the West-Haven projects if the cops weren't around.
I kept a fifth of Seagram's 7 in my golf bag to make mixed drinks in a 20oz coke bottle at golf practice when we got to the third hole and could get to a spot where Coach Waters wouldn't see us.
I would get my cousin to buy me a fifth of Seagram's 7 most weekends and drink half on Friday and half on Saturday until I had been sick so many times that I couldn't stomach it anymore.
I still can't stand the smell of Seagram's 7.

Little Kings. Hudy lite. Whatever was cheap. Or we'd steal whatever you had out of your garage.

Damn, Little Kings. Cream ale. I had forgotten about those. Loved em. 7 ounces so they stayed cold til the last sip. I also forgot about Mickey's "large mouth" malt liquor...

Yep. We'd get a case each for Opening Day. It was a special buzz. The one you take off the next day because your stomach weighs 100lb and you're shitting a mocha fountain.

Iron City Beer, the local over hyped piss in a can. Ruined me for beer forever. Even today, I would rather have a cocktail
Paul Douglas in our class would bring his dad's moonshine to school and hide it in a hole in the wall in the lockerroom. That was some brutal stuff drinking that straight. Too bad half-way through basketball season he was caught and kicked off the team.

Well I am sure some of the people I was acquainted with had fake IDs. But no one I knew personally had them. Or if they did have them, I sure didn't know about it.Jungle Rat wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 12:48 pmPussy. I paid for the booze they gave us. I just didn't buy it. I guess that made me a pussy.

At Ole Miss, the Kroger in Oxford sold 30 packs of Stroh’s and Stroh’s Light, so that was the choice more often than not.
The older I get the more I pretty much hate every cocksucker that is making decisions in this world and all of the idiots that root for political parties like sports teams. — aTm

In the 'whatever we could get our hands on for cheap' days - Busch, Miller in the bottle, PBR
Best Friend's dad would bring home cases of Rolling Rock from business trips which we could occasionally pilfer.
We figured we were living large when we could get $20 pony kegs of Mich Light. Oh for the days of lower drinking age and beer prices.

Heh. I remember going into the Harris Teeter by my apartment one time and seeing that they had Coors and Coors Light on sale for $9.99 per case (24 pack), and I packed my Nissan Maxima trunk to the point the damn rear end sagged.

Re: College Football
When we were in high school Coors wasn't available in North Carolina, but you could get it in Virginia. Occasionally somebody would bring back a case or two and we thought it was very exotic. I forgot about Rolling Rock. My dad used to drink that. Like Little Kings, they offered it in a 7 oz. bottle. There's still an empty 7 oz. bottle of Rolling Rock sitting by the sink in the utility room at my dad's house...

When I was a kid, my dad drank Busch...not Busch Light...just Busch...
Then again, considering the hell he caught in the house from my mother, sitting in his shop drinking that awful shit had to have been a welcome reprieve.
Ironically, he died five years ago today.

I remember my dad talking about how one of the businessmen in Goldsboro would have Coors bootlegged to Goldsboro during the 70's. People would pay top dollar for it like it was a delicacy.hedge wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 3:04 am When we were in high school Coors wasn't available in North Carolina, but you could get it in Virginia.
