My post was more political based. And probably has at least some truth to it.

I say for the most part because there is a significant minority on the right (a percentage that does not seem to diminish) that feels we would be better off if we fired 80% of the cops. Just fire them. Boom. Gone. They don't respect law enforcement. And why tree? Because this minority percentage believes that those 80% of law enforcement only exist to deliver needless restraining orders to men and to vacate men from their homes (that they must continue to pay for) the minute the woman of the house is "afraid" because she went "feral" and did something despicable. These are the guys on the right who have no use for law enforcement. And the ONLY place that they are interested in standing up to law enforcement is in a court of law. But that is just a minority of the right.

pretty hard stance for both reporters and the Biden administration to just suddenly be in alignment on.

I guess you would have to lump in the CDC which is currently being pressured to change their school masking opinion to requiring kids wearing masks.

Maybe I'm missing something, but if kids are not in danger, and those who are in danger are getting vaccinated, then those who are at risk and chose to not vaccinate are the ones who will be effected. Who are we trying to protect?

I would assume they are still trying to avoid the health care system from being overwhelmed, and in addition , allow a variant to emerge that is vaccine resistant.

I think its very possible that when fall arrives in early October we see a prolonged spike and state officials pressured by the Federal government to go back to a variation of lock down.

I read yesterday that Michigan is in the process of stripping emergency powers from their governor preventing her (or anyone else in Michigan) from being able to issue a lockdown order in the future.

There is really nothing to be done except try to mitigate the total quantity of people who have it at any one time and hope someone eventually develops treatment that makes it harmless.

In my expectation, we will know elderly people that die from this (and unfortunately, potentially some of us on this board) for the rest of our lifetimes. The vast majority of people are currently waiting for an obvious moment where we can go "Aha now it is time for everything to go back to normal!" but that moment is never going to happen.

COVID will go on indefinitely. The human population and the virus will only adapt very slowly to dealing with each other over a period of many years until it's finally basically no big deal maybe decades from now, but that will happen very gradually. The idea that the vaccines will confer true long term immunity is really just a hope and a prayer. And the virus that causes COVID is so widespread that it will now be endemic in human population and can NEVER be eliminated altogether, and therefore it will always be a risk to flare up and eventually will be something that is in constant circulation.
