Original 13 states are exempt. They founded the place, they're grandfathered in. But that doesn't mean a handful of yokels should get to go out west and create 2 states out of a population of 4 inbreeding famblies just b/c no other sane person wants to live there. You could literally nuke North and South Dakota and nobody was notice or if they did notice, they wouldn't care. A place like that does not deserve 4 senators. They don't deserve to live, but that's another topic...

Hold on let me pull out my pocket copy of the Constitution of the United States of America. Let me fight that clause, that article, that amendment. Hmmm. Nope, not in there. Your "grandfather clause" you must be talking about some other country, the nation of hedge perhaps?

That is exactly how they founded West Virginia when the Civil War broke out? Why was it okay for those inbreeding famblies to get their own 2 Senators but not the people pumping all the domestic oil from the ground that you and I are currently buying?

Oh, that's right. I keep forgetting that grandfather clause. Virginia was also part of the original 13.

Your cheap ass pocket edition doesn't have the full text of the Constitution. Look it up online, you'll find the grandfather clause...

Letter to the Editor in Cincinnati.Com

Recent media focus on individual police shootings of Black victims gives a false impression of the overall reality. According to The Washington Post’s database on police shootings, 18 unarmed Black people were killed by police in 2020 and 13 in 2019 in this country. In reality, about 26% of fatal police shootings in 2019 were of Black people. While this percentage is greater than Black Americans' 13% share of the general population, it is less than the overall Black crime rate, according to FBI statistics. The notion that police shootings have been going up in recent years is not based on facts. For example, in 1971, New York City police officers discharged their weapons on the street 810 times. In the past five years, that number has fallen to below 100 discharges. According to Bureau of Justice statistics, there were 6.5 million police interactions with Black people in 2018 but only 22 were killed by police. According to these numbers, the chances of a Black person being killed by a cop are less than his chances of being killed by lightning. Statistics may be of little solace to the families of individual Black people who were undeserved victims of police violence, but they do separate the myths from reality.

I looked it up

49 people on average are killed by lightning each year in the United States.

That would mean there's way less chance of a black person (or anybody) being killed by lightning than being killed by the police. Why did you lie, Cincinnati.com letter writer?

49 deaths by lightning out of approx. 350 million people is way less than 22 deaths out of 6.5 million interactions with police...

well ok, I"m not sure the 6.5m is relevant but I see your point.

Even then 6.5m resulting in 22 pretty much means BLM is a bunch of horseshit.

FWIW, 19 African Americans die on average each year from being tased. I am a bit surprised with that number considering that is defined as non-lethal but only 3 less than gun shot, which is intentionally lethal. I understand that thousands of people get tased, but still.

Just think how you'd feel if they changed BLM to Black Lightning deaths Matter...

Sometimes I get into it with people at youtube asking them what it is (exactly) the reason why we have police in the first place. Nine times out of ten, I get no response to that question. I'm sure they can think of good reasons for police, but they will be damned before they share any of them publicly in that forum. Then one chance in ten I get the tired old bullshit, DNC approved, narrative: we have police departments to catch runaway slaves. When I hear that, that is when I pit leftist brother against leftist sister and I'll ask if we get rid of all the cops, ladies, who are you going to call when your alphathug, trailer-trash, tatooed, monster that you are living with, comes home drunk, catches you fucking his best friend, and he starts smacking you around the trailer? Who is going to come to your rescue if not a cop with a badge and gun?

Its at that moment where a wave of #Woke reality often overcomes the leftist feminist and her first instinct to #DefundThePolice is overwhelmed and over-ridden by her most fundamental instinct, #BelieveAllWomen. From there on out, I see leftist go to war with leftist over the functional purpose of the police in 2021. Its a thing of beauty to see them argue with one another. It gives me a sense of pride and accomplishment.

I think defund the police has quietly died on the vine as a result of crime rates shooting up in just about every metropolitan city of any size in this country, especially whena few of the largest proponents of it have asked for police protections and have called 911.

Even Portland is like "quit burning shit down you fuckers, we're serious this time"

I can't speak for Portland, but cops are still quitting here in Phoenix. Its like, look, if you don't respect us and you hate us, we're out of here. I mean this is especially true for the younger cops who don't have big pensions and seniority to walk away from, they are bolting eCat. Why deliver restraining orders to people who run from you when you can deliver pizzas to people who can't wait to see you and make more money?

Eventually, when you call 911, there wont be anyone there to pick up the phone.

Which is stupid and dangerous. A 12 gauge with a low numbered shot (say # 1 through 4 shot) is much more effective for home defense, and you do not need to worry about the round still being lethal for thousands of feet. If the shot makes it out of the house, it's non-lethal 99% of the time because a lot of the energy has already been absorbed in the items it passed through and because even without any objects impeding the path, non-buckshot/non-slug ammo is rarely lethal beyond 200' (and that's with a 3" or 3.5" shell and a full or extra full choke).

Now, if you're dealing with a 12ga. with a 3.5" shell and a 00 buck shot it's a different ballgame, but even then it pales in comparison to a .223 round.
I proudly took AFAM 040 at Carolina.

This is the argument that a colleague of mine made to encourage me to buy a Taurus Judge revolver for home defense. He was a former cop working QA at firm that I was at, and I asked him about home defense weapons. He said you don't want something that is lethal at thousands of feet but you DO want something that is fucking loud, powerful, easy to handle, and very disruptive in a short distance. A shotgun does not qualify under those parameters because many women are not going to be able to "wield them" the way they can a pistol. A shotgun most certainly is NOT easy to handle. So he not only encouraged me to get a Taurus Judge, he said he'd go with me and my wife to Shooters World to try them on the range.

The .410s at a short range, perfect.

Perfect home defense weapon. Perfect.
