What income tax did he cut? He signed an extension of w which kept rates the same.Owlman wrote:He's also decreased taxes, not increased them. Gun rights have increased during his watch (with no response) as well. He moderated his view on PPACA, quickly agreeing to eliminate a govt option, despite getting no Republican support, much to the chagrin of the left . He's proposed cutting payroll taxes (now the Republicans are against decreasing payroll taxes) and he KILLED BIN LADEN!

Duh... Of course the plan was to push more people into govt care...said that all along...make the crisis worse and years later claim govt is the only way to fix it.

The bottom line is that the new system appears designed to push more and more people into the exchanges, with more and more people receiving health coverage subsidized by the government. For the cynical, it might even appear that is what Obama and his Democratic allies wanted all along. Remember that Obama said, during a January 2008 debate that, "If I were designing a system from scratch, I would set up a single-payer system." He couldn't pass a single-payer system, or even a public-option system, even when he had filibuster-proof majorities in Congress. But he could enact a system that will take a slower route in that direction.
Now, it's no surprise that the president isn't solemnly promising the American people that "if you like your health care plan, you'll be able to keep your health care plan, period." But it seems likely that Americans will hear those words again. Perhaps in 2012 -- in Republican attack ads.

Re: Puterbac News Network and Political Discussion Thread
Well duh that's because that would be true, it WOULD HAVE BEEN a tax increase, and the fact is the tax rates are the same so it's not a CUT. It's the same.TheBigMook wrote:But if he didn't, y'all would say that he had raised taxes.puterbac wrote:What income tax did he cut? A cut would mean he lowered the rates, that didn't happen so he did not cut taxes.
Only a liberal could come up with something like that. " Oh well the tax rate stayed at 33%, but I wanted to raise it to 40%, but I didn't so I cut taxes by 7%. Now I know you are still paying 33%, but believe me I cut your taxes".
Good Lord.

Don't put me in a camp, I don't fit into any real camp except as a true independent. Obama is hardly a conservative. Re: Puterbac News Network and Political Discussion Thread
From that article it's not clear if it really was a tax cut or just a decrease in the witholding while keeping the rates the same.
It's also not clear if it was an extension of the Bush kickback (not really a tax cut because it didn't change the tax rate just gave that 400-800 dollar thingy they were calling 'making work pay' or some such) but just distributed throught the year instead of in the form of a rebate check.
I don't know of any income tax rate this administration decreased. That's what a tax cut would be.

Re: Puterbac News Network and Political Discussion Thread
Domestically, he is a flaming, cross-dressing, bed-wetting, hemophiliac liberal. For starters: The consistently unpopular Obamacare, only made possible by the infamous "Louisiana Purchase" and the "Cornhusker kickback." The "stimulus," which spent hundreds of billions, mostly on paying off his allies in government labor unions, and didn't stimulate the economy at all. The astronomical federal spending. The even more astronomical deficits. Raising taxes on those making over $250K (i.e. small businesses, which is where most new jobs come from). Justices Sotomayor and Kagan. Ending Don't Ask Don't Tell. Starting the upcoming attack on the Defense of Marriage Act, which will cram gay marriage down the throat of conservative states like Texas and Mississippi, whether they want it or not. Ending the Clinton-era welfare reforms, which once imposed common sense and reasonable work requirements and time limitations of benefits. The non-prosecution of the Black Panthers for their blatant attempts at voter intimidation in Philly. Massive increases in government regulations on virtually every facet of American life. Advancement of the man-made global warming religion and illusory "green energy jobs" that can't exist without government subsidies. Banning of most oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and AK. Promising to wipe out the coal industry.Owlman wrote:Don't put me in a camp, I don't fit into any real camp except as a true independent. Obama is hardly a conservative. Other than that, he is a real moderate alright.
Foreign policy-wise, he is the second coming of the W, other than his worldwide apology tour and shoving Israel under the bus.

Re: Puterbac News Network and Political Discussion Thread
PPACA was a Republican proposal first proposed by Republicans in 1994 and then implemented in the state of Massachusetts by Romney. He also has proposed cutting payroll taxes, first proposed by Republicans (now opposed by Republicans). Federal spending increased more under Bush first (and more) in response to the massive economic downturn. He's a net tax-cutter. Gun rights have increased under his watch.
Not implementing much of an original idea, but copying and implementing a bunch of old Republican points, one can and potentially should blame Obama for.
There is very good reason that liberals are mad at your President.

Oh and he didn't end TANF. TANF ran out of money as designed (when it was passed and an emergency TANF was passed in 2009) and funded temporarily.

Re: Puterbac News Network and Political Discussion Thread
Please. Gun rights only "increased under his watch" because judges in New York City and Chicago sanely decided that those cities don't have the authority to totally invalidate the Second Amendment to the US Constitution within their city limits. They can't ban gun ownership any more than they can ban church attendance or newspapers. That certainly does not redound to Obama's credit. He had nothing to do with those court decisions.Gun rights have increased under his watch.

I didn't give him credit. I said they increased under his watch. That's true. I said he cut taxes. He did. I said he implemented a Republican health care plan. He did. I said that he proposed a cut in payroll taxes, something at point in time supported by Republicans. He did. (althought they are against it now). I said he didn't end TANF. He didn't. He passed a new TANF after the first one they new was going to run out of money (it did).
