Pennsylvania postal worker recants ballot tampering allegations

The House Oversight Committee announced Tuesday that Richard Hopkins went back on his assertion that a postmaster in Erie, Pa., told workers to backdate ballots mailed after Election Day after he was questioned by a U.S. Postal Service inspector general. Hopkins had signed a sworn affidavit attesting to his claims.

Democrats on the Oversight panel said investigators from the U.S. Postal Service had told the committee that Hopkins had signed a sworn affidavit with allegations of ballot tampering and fraud before recanting: “USPS IG investigators informed Committee staff today that they interviewed Hopkins on Friday, but that Hopkins RECANTED HIS ALLEGATIONS yesterday and did not explain why he signed a false affidavit”

Hopkins’s claims had been widely touted by Republicans and were at the heart of a letter from Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) to the Justice Department urging it to open a federal probe. its been interesting to me the past week or so watching people cling to hope by referencing tweets, videos, whatever from sources that are no more credible than the conspiracy nut that works down at the local vape shop. I guess they want to find hope wherever they can.

My hope is gridlock for 2 years, then the repubs take the house in 2022. That seems more realistic than talking about dominion voting processes and SCOTUS declaring the election invalid.

I totally support the US having a small footprint in the middle east. Not some massive invading force, but small, strategic units who work with the locals and build alliances. That's why Trump's betrayal of the Kurds was so wrong. We had built up a strong relationship with them, an indigenous population that provided us with invaluable local intel and manpower, and Trump just pulled the plug on that, I guess b/c Erdoğan told him he wouldn't get a Trump tower in Istanbul if he didn't, so that was all it took for Trump to totally fuck a decades long strategic ally. We're going to be paying for Trump's bullshit for decades to come, so don't start fucking whining the next time there's a terrorist attack in this country, b/c you asked for it, or at the very least, supported the guy's "policies" that led to it...
