Bush tax cuts helped the rich to teh tune of $70 billion a year.

Bush tax cuts helped teh poor to the tune of $130 billion a year.
Is that like the battle cry over MMGW, "It's teh science!"?

So first hurdle complete, found out I passed the written boards.

Now come the oral boards in April. I have heard many horror stories about them.

Congrats. That's an accomplishment. You're close to being a 'real' doctor now.

No, I'm not making anything right now. Insurance companies try to hold money as long as possible. I just opened my practice on July 15th so I haven't gotten anything yet. I should start getting something in Sept.

I expect I'll do better than the 13 bucks an hour I was accustomed to last year though.

Congrats. (what area?)

Orals are more a trial to get through mentally. Much harder to fail in reality though, at least in OB.

based on some of BOJ's posts the hard part of the orals might be to keep his answers within the time limit

Not that it matters, but nobody predicted the record tornado/hail season either.

8 out of the last 10 years are the warmest in history, but you can't predict with absolute certainty that this year will be in the top 10 too.

although it will...unless God turns on the a/c pretty quick

"Climate change involves complicated science and generates vigorous debate. Many are concerned about the effect of climate change on our environment. Many are concerned about the effect of climate change policies on our economy. I share these concerns, and I believe they can be sensibly reconciled.

So we've pursued a series of policies aimed at encouraging the rise of inovative as well as more cost-effective ways clean energy technologies that can help America and developing nations reduce greenhouse gases, reduce our dependence on oil, and keep our economies vibrant and strong for decades to come. Innocentbystander might have to revisit his pronouncement that Romney is the guaranteed, slam dunk R nominee:

Poll watchers: Rick Perry’s GOP shuffle, economic gloom and Steve Jobs
By Peyton M. Craighill

GOP shuffle – Texas Gov. Rick Perry surged to the top of the field in the race for the Republican presidential nomination in a Gallup poll released Wednesday. This is the first high quality national poll in which former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney has not been at the top among Republicans and GOP leaning independents. Perry wins 29 percent support to 17 percent for Romney, followed by Ron Paul (R-Texas) at 13 percent and Michele Bachmann (R.-Minn.) at 10 percent. The rest of the announced GOP candidates were in single digits. Perry is up 11 percentage points from July, before he had officially announced his candidacy.

Perry is drawing strength from two key Republican constituencies – conservatives and Southerners. Perry doubles the level of Romney’s support among conservatives, 33 to 16 percent. And he more than triples the support of Romney in the South, 39 to 12 percent.
Apparently, Republican voters prefer conservatives over moderate chameleons after all.

AA's right. Surgery.

Standing in front of the surgeons that write the text books and being grilled is nerve racking.

I don't think very many disciplines even have oral boards any more. I think they all did at one time, but most have done away with it. My OB counterparts only talked about the written boards so they may have done away with their orals too, I don't know. They talked about the written alot, but not orals.

I think Urology and CT surgery still have them, and maybe Emergency but I had heard a rumor that ER was doing away with theirs too.

Anyway, for General Surgery the fail rate is double the fail rate of the written(both nation wide and for my individual progam as well). It may be tougher to fail the orals in other fields, but for General Surgery they pride themselves on having brutal oral exams for right or wrong they are just awful so you don't hear us talk about the written that much it's always the orals we worry about.

I wish surgery would do away with them too LOL.
