Re: Music
there is a Martin Scorcese affiliated documentary about The Band, I think on Hulu, maybe its Netflix - they all blend together after awhile.
While there is nothing earth breaking in it about a band from the late sixties rising to fame and breaking up because of drugs and jealousy, its worth watching. They were Woodstock before Woodstock was a thing, they were also Bob Dylans band when we switched from folk music to Rock-n-Roll and was getting boo'd off the stage every night.
I watched it and another documentary about Joan Jett , the latter of which cured my insomnia.

Re: Music
There's a good documentary on Netflix about the music scene that sprang up in Laurel Canyon in the late 60's, it was basically the Haight-Ashbury of Los Angeles. CSNY, The Doors, The Byrds, The Eagles, Jackson Browne, even Frank Zappa and Alice Cooper, and tons more, they were all living there and hanging out together. Pretty cool scene and a lot of great music...

I have not seen that Echo in the Canyon one yet, I suspect they cover a lot of the same ground. I will check it out. The one on David Crosby is good too, directed by Cameron Crowe I believe...

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood I think is Tarantino's best movie

Re: Music
True Romance (Crow's favorite movie, IIRC) and Natural Born Killers are essentially Tarantino movies, too...

Re: Music
The reason I say Once Upon a time in Hollywood is because Tarantino dials it back across the board - the violence, the long dialogs just to make a point that only Tarantino thinks is cool, and the language itself.
This was the most mainstream movie he has made and maybe the feel good ending - if you want to call it that helped.
I've liked all of Tarantino's movies, including Dusk Til Dawn, but I've never been a big fan of long dialog scenes just to show how cool a character is. I don't like that about Kevin Smith movies either.
But I'll always watch them because I like him taking a film Genre and putting his own spin on it.

Re: Music
I wasnt crazy about Hollywood when I first watched it - maybe expectations were too high.
Upon rewatching it - I think its a masterpiece.

Re: Music
Don't get me wrong, I liked it a lot. Definitely my favorite of recent movies, although Django and Inglorious Basterds were right up there. But Pulp Fiction was a seismic shift in film making in general, not just one director's best movie. I remember thinking I had never seen anything like this (in a good way) the whole time I was watching it in the theater when it first came out, and I was already a big fan of David Lynch...

Re: Music
Saw Pulp Fiction way to late after everyone else did. On VCR I believe. Probably need to watch it again because back then it did nothing for me. Probably just the time I was in.

Re: Music
Pulp is on the shortlist of completely rewatchable movies at any time, any mood - I will grant you that.
