The Kenosha Kid had a fund me page started for him that raised over 50K in a little more than an hour. I don' t know what its up to now.

Also, Attorney Lin Wood has offered to defend the kid for free. He was Richard Jewells attorney.

You can blame Trump's stirring up white nationalism 4 years ago for ultimately providing the momentum for all this to get as big as it has. I guess incompetent politicians need a way to consolidate power too. Although in a big picture way he did us a favor in helping to expose that racism is alive and well, both institutionally and in the general public.

On August 18, Collin County, TX weirdly posted the following warning on its published COVID-19 data.
Warning: Collin County is providing COVID-19 numbers and data as a convenience to our residents. However, because we have been made aware of inaccuracies in the Department of State Health Services' reporting, we must advise residents that Collin County has no confidence in the data currently being provided to us.

They apparently hired 12 private contractors to contact all open cases themselves and this was the result.

I reject the notion that nationalism is racist

I can see where some racists groups felt enabled by the idea of nationalism but that is a by product of Trump, not an intent. The liberal narrative turned nationalism into some white supremacy thing because they realized they were losing on nationalism versus globalism. Its not like white supremacists groups are going to gravitate to the Democratic party. Especially when they are outwardly supporting racial based groups like BLM.

Nationalism isn't racist, its why more African Americans and Latinos were employed prior to Covid-19, the idea that as a nation we reject one sided trade agreements, America punishes corporations that move manufacturing offshore and reward companies that bring it back. It also focuses heavily on immigration control and forcing countries to address their own problems instead of dumping immigrants into our country - again displacing unskilled labor and lowering wages - both of which hurt African Americans and American Latinos the most.

Nationalism was already gaining ground prior to Trumps election globally but its not hard to see that people all over the world were fed up with globalism.

Its a weak minded narrative to look past that and just tie it to white supremacy, especially when the middle and upper classes were the least likely to directly benefit from it.

This kid shouldn't have been out there, but neither should have any of the "victims" been either. These dudes that got shot cannot be any more of an optics disaster. A group of wife beaters and sex offenders chasing a 17 year old (I dont know why people are so fucking triggered on both sides by seeing kids). And then to top it all off, the three anti-fascists are not only serial criminals but their fucking names are Grosskreutz, Rosenbaum, and Huber. Jesus, I know its Wisconsin, but I'm guessing anti-fascism isnt the first thing an American's gonna think of when they hear those names...

I didn't know what you meant about until I read this from another board, source is unknown

First up, Joseph Rosenbaum, a registered sex offender with some obvious anger issues. He’s the guy who threw what, on video, looked like a Molotov cocktail at Rittenhouse but which seems to have “only” been a brick in a plastic bag...."

"Next is Anthony Huber, aka “Skateboard Guy.” He’s the one caught on video beating a prostrate Rittenhouse with a skateboard. I also think he’s the same one caught delivering a roundhouse kick to Rittenhouse while he was down...True to form, he was a convicted felon with a history of violence."

"Finally, we have Gaige “Lefty” Grosskreutz. Grosskreutz has a pistol in his hand during the confrontation and was shot in the arm. Ironically, he was LARPing as a medic. He was a convicted felon (burglary) — some of the terror sympathizers are claiming his convictions for burglary was merely a misdemeanor, but that remains to be seen — and is not allowed to possess any weapon but appears to have been carrying a concealed semiautomatic pistol. He’s also a member of the anarchist group “People’s Revolution Movement.”

What the shootings boil down to is this. We can criticize Rittenhouse’s judgment for a) coming to Kenosha and b) getting himself isolated from compatriots and putting himself in a position where shooting was his only option. We don’t have to think that he was some exemplar of civic duty for his enlistment in what amounted to a vigilante group. But we have to keep in mind that the people he put down were men with criminal records who were acting very much like we expect violent felons to act. They weren’t heroes. They weren’t victims. They made a conscious decision to attack a man with a gun, and they got shot.

Nearly 200 ex-staffers for former President George W. Bush, Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT), and late Arizona Sen. John McCain have endorsed 2020 Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden this week as the final day of the Republican National Convention takes place.

In an open letter signed by 33 former staffers, Romney Alumni for Biden declared, “With over 175,000 Americans dead from COVID-19, tens of millions unemployed, and 80 percent of voters convinced that the U.S. is heading in the wrong direction, we desperately need a president that’s laser focused on putting the nation’s needs ahead of his own.”

“That’s why we’re proud to announce that we’re voting for Vice President Biden—a man we once worked to defeat—this November,” the group announced, adding, “What unites us now is a deep conviction that four more years of a Trump presidency will morally bankrupt this country, irreparably damage our democracy, and permanently transform the Republican Party into a toxic personality cult. We can’t sit by and allow that to happen.”
"OMG, this is terrible. This is the end of my presidency. I AM FUCKED!"

they just don't understand that a man of questionable character and no experience beat them and their opponent because Americans rejected their platform.

They can dog Trump's morals, ethics, leadership all they want. Americans do not want them to be in a position of power. For that matter, if they could get rid of Graham and McConnell without replacing them with progressive liberals, they would happily do that as well, just as they pushed out Boehner and Ryan.

They keep expecting people to reject Trump because of his character, not his politics. Rejecting a politician based on his character in Washington D.C. would be , to quote Captain Willard in Apocalypse Now , "like giving out speeding tickets at the Indy 500"

Democrats have zero faith in Biden's ability to deliver a cohesive message
---------------------

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi suggested Thursday that former Vice President Joe Biden cancel his three scheduled debates with President Trump because the commander-in-chief would "belittle" the forum and engage in "skullduggery."

"I don't think that there should be any debates," Pelosi said out of the blue at a news conference at the Capitol, saying she doesn't want the debates to be "an exercise in skullduggery."

"I wouldn't legitimize a conversation with him, nor a debate in terms of the presidency of the United States. Now I know that the Biden campaign thinks in a different way about this."

Got this from IC:

The South Korean debate is fascinating to me, as it relates to politics. The ruling party (Moon's party) would be the Democrats in the US. South Korea has done a tremendous job balancing COVID with the economy- successfully threading the needle without large scale shutdowns.

Well now cases are rising again and the conservative party is asking for a lockdown (level 3 in S. Korea), which has never been issued. Moon is pushing back saying the economy is too precarious right now and a several lockdown would destroy their recovery.

Sound familiar? Just goes to show that the virus is political everywhere. The opposition party will take the other side of the argument regardless of political leaning. The South Korean conservative party woudl be alligned with the Democratic party here, whereas Moon and his more liberal cohorts would align themselves with Trump.
