For anyone keeping up with the demise of the NRA, many gun owners have abandoned the NRA due to LaPierre's mismanagement.

Yachts, Private Planes, thousand dollar suits and luxury cars are not what NRA members expected when they made their lifetime memberships.

And while many people think the NRA owns(ed) Congress, there were many gun laws added at the federal level that members felt the NRA didn't fight against.

None of them want a New York AG bringing the organization down just to give the liberals the satisfaction but in reality the NRA is just a shell of what it was thanks to LaPierre. Oliver North, of all people, tried to save the organization and he was tossed out.

Many members now support GOA which has a more narrow vision of defending the second amendment.

I was an NRA member for 2 years about a decade ago, but all I saw was a political money grab. I paid my membership dues and they bombarded me with requests for donations. Every city or state that had some infringement on gun rights became a cause that I was expected to donate to. I was over them pretty quickly. I can only imagine the outrage the members have that donated money to fight 2A infringement only to hear about the yachts and vacations WLP took on their dime.
