Re: La Salle Explorers
10 years ago or so my wife and I put a koi pond in the front yard, about 5X5 and maybe 2.5 deep
after a couple of years of cleaning leaves out of that thing I covered it up and put in a fountain. The fountain eventually broke and for the last 2 years its just been sitting there as a snake/chipmunk haven, so today we decided to clean it up and turn it back into a pond.
Bought some water lillies for it, water hyacinth? and a few odds and ends. Then the place we went to also sells fish. My wife was looking at koi to put in it - beautiful fish, but then, the redneck in me took over. I told her forget those koi, give me 5 large mouth bass
So now I have a 5' wide pond stocked with large mouth bass.

I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

Re: La Salle Explorers
they'll outgrow the pond in 2 years - I'll take them to the local park that has a fishing pond and put them in it, then get some small one again and start over.

Re: La Salle Explorers
took a stab at trying to buy a retirement spot this weekend.
I'm about 40 years too late in this area of finding a retirement area that is affordable. That's the curse of Gen-X
following the Boomers who consume everything in site and drive up prices.

Re: La Salle Explorers
its a nice spot - dead end road with only 4 families on it, a view of rolling hills
but what I didn't know is there are two ways to get there. And one is thru meth lab central, and unfortunately we didn't know that until after we bought it. I was renting it for awhile and then a couple offered to buy it. Matter of fact we are closing on it in 2 weeks which is part of the reason I am looking for another spot.
Right now I'm looking to get back into Kentucky in the foothills. Not Appalachia but close enough you can go there whenever you want.
I don't want to be in Ohio when I'm 60.

Now there's a smart guy.....
The area around Morehead and Cave Run Lake is a nice place to retire to. Only 40 minutes from Lex. Not in Appalachia but enough hills to make it not look like Ohio. Land value is reasonable. Fleming County is extremely nice. Prettiest county in Eastern/Northeastern Kentucky. Nice people also.

Re: La Salle Explorers
Can the bass and koi coexist? Reason I’m asking is that the place I bought in December came with a 20x20 natural pond that the previous owners stocked with koi. The fish are nice to look at, but I was wondering if we could introduce other species.eCat wrote: ↑Sat Jul 11, 2020 4:05 pm 10 years ago or so my wife and I put a koi pond in the front yard, about 5X5 and maybe 2.5 deep

Re: La Salle Explorers
I found this property today. 10 acres. Its about 35K more than I can afford but I am dying to have it. I'm seriously thinking about asking my 85 year old momma for the money. I want it that bad. I could take out a loan but it would totally screw up my 3 year plan.. I'll probably sleep on it tonight and decide I don't want it, but right now its exactly what I want. We drove all over northern Kentucky looking at properties. I'm getting an education on it.
