Russians were paying Afghan Extremists to do what they were doing for free

sounds like a solid business model.

So the Supreme Court struck down a Louisiana law that would restrict abortions. Not sure of the full details, but I did see this little snippet from the article I read:

"A federal judge ruled in 2017 that the law was likely unconstitutional and blocked its enforcement. But a three-judge panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals voted to lift the stay, finding that it would present far less of an obstacle than the Texas law would have, because less than one-third of Louisiana women seeking an abortion would face even the potential of longer wait times.

The Supreme Court put that ruling on hold while it considered the case, which prevented the law from taking effect."

So the 5th Circuit invalidated the district court's opinion and was all set to let the law take effect, and it would've taken effect if the Supreme Court had not put the 5th Circuit's ruling on hold while it considered the case. And now the Supreme Court has considered the case and has effectively overturned the 5th Circuit's decision to let the law stand. So I have to ask, is the 5th Circuit just making shit up without caring about the law? Is that the conclusion we're supposed to draw every time the Supreme Court overturns any of the Circuit courts' decisions?

US Republicans, Democrats Want to Question Trump Aides Over Bounties

The NSC says it was so, and we even briefed Great Britain on the bounties. Supposedly key people at the WH knew. If the prez DIDN'T "know", there's going to have to be an explanation. Heads may roll. Scapegoats beware.

Part two: he certainly knows NOW - so is he gonna pass if off as another hoax?

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/30/us/p ... gence.html

NY Times June 30, 2020Updated 2:46 p.m. ET

American officials intercepted electronic data showing large financial transfers from a bank account controlled by Russia’s military intelligence agency to a Taliban-linked account, which was among the evidence that supported their conclusion that Russia covertly offered bounties for killing U.S. and coalition troops in Afghanistan, according to three officials familiar with the intelligence.

Though the United States has accused Russia of providing general support to the Taliban before, analysts concluded from other intelligence that the transfers were most likely part of a bounty program that detainees described during interrogations. Investigators also identified by name numerous Afghans in a network linked to the suspected Russian operation, the officials said — including, two of them added, a man believed to have served as an intermediary for distributing some of the funds and who is now thought to be in Russia.

The intercepts bolstered the findings gleaned from the interrogations, helping reduce an earlier disagreement among intelligence analysts and agencies over the reliability of the detainees. The disclosures further undercut White House officials’ claim that the intelligence was too uncertain to brief President Trump. In fact, the information was provided to him in his daily written briefings in late February, according to officials.

Another dud...
Not a dud, sardis. Remember Helsinki when Trump declared his allegiance to Putin over our intelligence agencies? Sure you do - you're not stupid. I don't think. Misinformed? At some point you heard his words - saw the video.

Trump shut down (it was the U.S. turn to host) the G-7 conference this year because our allies refused to let him bring Putin to the table. Did you know that? I'm thinking you didn't. But you did hear Trump bragging about plans to bring Putin to the WH - that was all over Fox News, wasn't it?

Dud? Yeah, hang on to that thread. And by all means believe the Commander in Chief when he says he didn't know anything about the bounties. Why would he lie, right?

From that article:

"The amount of land we use for meat — humankind’s biggest use of land — has declined by an area nearly as large as Alaska"

That may be the case, but it's only b/c animals are crammed into tighter and tighter spaces now. I know nobody cares (nobody in here anyway) about animal cruelty, but as I've said before, raising dogs for the sole purpose of dog fighting is a thousand times more humane than what factory farmed animals endure by the millions on a daily basis. Whatever is the worst cruelty done to dogs and cats (which makes everybody feel bad when they show the commercials and ask for money) it's nothing compared to the daily life of factory farmed animals...
