LMAO! Post of the month. See, this is why Bonfired NEEDS to be here.

Sure as hell ain't Athens, TX. Big time Bible-thumpin' town in the piney woods area.

Maybe I've underestimated Columbia a bit, who knows...

On the other side of the coin, I was surprised to see that Bob Jones U. didn't make the anti-party school top 5.

And I'm surprised Wheaton made the top five in the anti-party school list. Not long ago, they started allowing limited dancing, alcohol and tobacco:

That alone should have knocked them out of contention.

I'm ready to make general observations/predictions about our upcoming season:

Likely wins: Utah State, Florida Atlantic, Ole Miss, Samford.

Likely losses:

Miss. State: This game is early in the season and before our host of new starters get their bearings.

USCe: The Evil Genius will not be denied this time. Our best hope is to catch Garcia during one of his frequent suspensions/drinking binges, but that's not much of a hope.

Arkansas: The Hogs are becoming a perennial offensive powerhouse, and seem to be growing a defense as well. Too much for us and our rebuilding defense.

LSU: We'll suffer mild blowout at the hands of the Mad Hatter. Our only hope is that the Yahoo 10 story is about LSU, and they plunge into disarray. But that's not much of a hope.

Alabama: The Saban will have his dish of revenge served cold after last year's embarrassing second half meltdown. This will resemble the 2008 Iron Bowl.

Toss-ups:

Clemson: Never underestimate Clemson's propensity to fold. But the law of averages says Clemson will beat us sometime. Might as well be this time at their place.

Florida: They are in transition between coaches and will be more beatable than usual (sorta like Meyer's first year). And we play them at home.

Georgia: The Dawgs want to avenge Fairley's riverdance on Murray last year. They have enough talent to win convincingly. But in our favor, Mark Richt is still masterminding the Dawgs long, slow slide into mediocrity. And we are playing at Jordan Hare East.

Summary: we win the 3 tossups and go 7-5. That's being optimistic.

I more see your game versus Miss State to be a toss-up as well. Still not sold on the Bulldogs' ability to be that good defensively for consecutive seasons.

If it were later in the season, I would agree with you. But like I said, our 16 new starters will still be figuring things out in the second game of the season.

If that happens, I will change my username to Smegma Coprophage and put as my avatar the biggest Roll Tide elephant picture I can find. As stated earlier, 7-5 is looking like a good season. I do think we've got some good young talent, which will get you just close enough in games to still lose, and I think we'll beat a team that no one expects us to beat, as well as throw in our usual "WTF" loss to someone.

Oh, no comments on the fake Iron Bowl ticket caper? In the words of Mr. Taggart, "I am depressed."

I agree with most things to get dead beat parents to step up. The more cruel and unusual the better.

sometimes bad things happen to good people and both parents should be able to agree to help the child support thing, but that's probably a wishful world.

The flight of the Auburn's eagle is the second best CFB tradition according to SI:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/ ... /index.htm

Auburn was the only SEC school to have a Top 10 tradition, other than the all-encompassing mascots at No. 6.

Ohio State's iconic dotting of the `i' as the band marches about is No. 1.

Here's Sports Illustrated list:

1. Ohio State, dotting of the i
2. Auburn, the eagle flight
3. Texas A&M, the 12th man
4. Army-Navy, when the Cadets and Midshipmen march in
5. Clemson, rubbing Howard's Rock for good luck
6. Mascots, from Georgia's Uga, to Texas' Bevo, to Colorado's Ralphie and more
7. Florida State, Chief Osceola firing down the spear
8. Wisconsin, jumping around
9. Notre Dame, the alma mater
10. Georgia Tech, the 1930 Model A Ramblin' Wreck

Sports Illustrated also said Auburn offered the sixth best game-day experience.

Dotting the i #1? Give me a break. Gay. The Wreck is #1. Running through the T #2. Eagle #3. Army-Navy #4. Chief #5. The rest can all be tied for 6.

No big surprise here:

Twice as many Alabama fans than Auburn fans in the state of Alabama:

http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2011 ... s_jus.html

The question: Overall, do you identify yourself as an Alabama fan, an Auburn fan, a fan of both, a fan of neither or don't know/no reply?

The answer in 2011: Of the 577 registered voters in this state who participated in the telephone survey and were representative of the state demographically, 215 (or 37 percent) identified themselves as Alabama fans while 102 (or 18 percent) called themselves Auburn fans.

That's twice as many Roll Tides as War Eagles.
