Ah, the party of fiscal responsibility. Yes, it's from MSNBC, but it's still true...

It doesn't happen often, but every once in a while, a prominent Republican will acknowledge that the GOP only seems to care about the deficit when there's a Democrat in the Oval Office. For example, the Washington Post obtained an audio recording of acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney making just such a concession yesterday.

"My party is very interested in deficits when there is a Democrat in the White House. The worst thing in the whole world is deficits when Barack Obama was the president. Then Donald Trump became president, and we're a lot less interested as a party," Mulvaney said at the Oxford Union to a group of several hundred people.

I doubt few conservative voters would argue that the GOP is really serious about fiscal responsibility

The tea party guys even gave that up. The 2008 financial meltdown just gave them the greenlight to blow it up to "save the nation"

and they haven't been serious about trying to tone it down since.

Rand lost alot of respect in his base when he supported Romney in order to play politics for a presidential bid on his own

That said, he's won many of them back over in the past few years working within the Trump era. I think Trump sees him as the most rational guy in the room when he is talking to Senators.

WASHINGTON – Former national security adviser John Bolton defended his decision not to testify in the impeachment process against President Donald Trump and said he didn't believe the result would have been any different if he had.

"People can argue about what I should have said and what I should have done," Bolton said Wednesday during a lecture at Vanderbilt University. "I would bet you a dollar right here and now, my testimony would have made no difference to the ultimate outcome....

On Wednesday, Bolton slammed House Democrats for their handling of the inquiry.

"I think the House committed impeachment malpractice the way they conducted it," he said, drawing groans from the audience.

"They made a mess of it. The process drove Republicans who might have voted for impeachment away because it was so partisan. That's my take on it. I am sorry if you disagree."

Heh, he's criticizing the dems b/c he thinks if they handled it differently, some repubs would've voted to impeach. That's a real rebuke, but not as much of a rebuke of the dems than of Trump...

Shuttering, not shuddering. Shuddering is what you do when you're out in the snow in your robe, looking for dead condors. The alleged millions killed by wind giant turbines.

Yes, that’s true. Every word of it. Sadly so.

The biggest difference between Republicans and Libertarians is when they both attack debt and deficit, there is a possibility that the Libertarians actually mean it.

I know alot of people that think they are Libertarian until you ask them about war, or public lands, or government regulation, or free trade, or minimum wage, or immigration

I used to think I was Libertarian but the world isn't black and white like hard core Libertarians believe. They are closer to anarchists than conservatives.

I voted Libertarian the last two presidential elections. I will probably go back to voting Libertarian when Trump leaves office.

And I will definitely vote for Bernie in the upcoming primary. Maybe more than once. I suspect millions of Libertarians and Republicans will do that in all the open primaries.

So, some items from the Libertarian platform 2016 that you must be in favor of:

-Elimination of Social Security, Medicare, welfare, Medicaid, etc.
-Pro-Choice
-Free flow of immigration across nation boundaries.
- No public schools
- No unions
- No state mandated licenses of professions.

Here are the Libertarian beliefs that I share:

1. Maximum human freedom to make their own decisions with minimum interference from the government.
2. The US Constitution is the standard by which all human freedoms are enshrined and government roles are specified.
3. Federalist government is Constitutional government. The tenth amendment should should make a comeback after a century in the dungeon.

The Democrats have proven themselves pretty hostile to the first, second, and tenth amendments. The Republicans talk as if they believe in these amendments, but they have proven themselves to be unwilling to put them into active practice when they have been in power.

"...Maximum human freedom to make their own decisions with minimum interference from the government."

- but I still want it to pay for my retirement and healthcare during it.

- but I still want it to pay for my kids education.

- but I still want them to tell Sally she needs to keep her baby.

- but I still want the government to keep Julio from crossing the Rio.

- but I still want the state to verify that the contractor working on my house can afford to correct his mistakes.

And not only should everybody not be able to ingest certain substances (that we get to decide), but if they do, they can have all their rights and freedoms taken away by men (our men) with guns (our guns) and put in prison, sometimes for life...
