"One day there will be democratic president and this is all going to come back to haunt them."
As you so aptly observe, you reap what you sow. This is payback for Clinton and now Republicans are now reaping what they sowed in 1998. Payback's a bitch...

Re: Florida State Seminoles
"this is a legislative attempted coup - and while that sounds like hyperbole, it is not."
Actually it is. Impeachment is a constitutionally outlined remedy if congress thinks the president (or members of the judiciary) have overstepped or outright committed crimes. Maybe what Trump has done is closer to one than the other or just somewhere in between, but the US Constitution gives congress the power to investigate that at their discretion. If voters don't like it, they can vote those congresspeople out of office, but they are absolutely acting within their constitutional authority, just like gun owners are acting within their's, or people who peacefully assemble are acting within their's, or any number of other people acting in any number of different ways are acting within their's. A legislative coup would be if some bloc of congress tried to take over the government outside any constitutional authority. That's not what's happening here. It seems kinda hypocritical to accuse them of coup just b/c you don't like what they're doing. In fact, it sounds like something Trump would say (and likely will say pretty soon). But it's not. Calling for a civil war if congress exercises its constitutional authority sounds more like planning a coup to me...

Hunter Biden was only part of it. Trump wanted help from Ukraine on discrediting the Mueller investigation. He's also enlisting aid from other allies in that endeavor. Absolving Russia wrt election interference is the best way to get sanctions lifted. Remember the Helsinki embarrassment?
Putin owns Trump. Someday we'll learn the facts of that ownership.

OK 1. it is a block of congress - its the democrats. 2. they are doing it outside of constitutional authority - you are looking at the impeachment, but you aren't looking at how they are bypassing the law (we can debate on whether its a good law or not) in order to justify the impeachment. Hence the legislative coup

How are they bypassing the law? The info was put thru the proper channels and then vetted by a Trump appointee and deemed appropriate to send to congress, even after taking it to Trump and Barr first...

Re: Florida State Seminoles
I am guessing that eCat, like Fox News, is still running with the totally false claim that any whistleblower complaint must be based solely on firsthand knowledge...
"On September 27, The Federalist's Sean Davis falsely claimed that until recently, intelligence community whistleblowers were required to have “first-hand knowledge” of wrongdoing in order to have a complaint investigated. This claim, which has since been debunked as untrue, is based on an obscure government form that conservatives are claiming was recently changed when Intelligence Community Inspector General Michael Atkinson reversed policy to allow secondhand information as the basis of a complaint. In fact, the statute that governs the process for intelligence community members to file whistleblower complaints has never included a firsthand knowledge requirement. The conspiracy theory was promoted by the president, Republican members of Congress, and a slew of right-wing media personalities. On Monday, Fox News continued to push the claim as a primary talking point."

Re: Florida State Seminoles
“Although the form requests information about whether the Complainant possesses first-hand knowledge about the matter about which he or she is lodging the complaint, there is no such requirement set forth in the statute,” the ICIG’s statement said. “The ICIG cannot add conditions to the filing of an urgent concern that do not exist in law.”
Furthermore, the ICIG statement said that the whistleblower who filed the Aug. 12 complaint against Trump used the old form — not the new one — and checked the boxes indicating that the claims were based on both direct knowledge of events and information obtained from others. (The new form still asks similar questions.)
So, not only was there no rule change for complaints based on hearsay, but those details from the ICIG also refute claims that the whistleblower “had no firsthand knowledge,” as Jordan, the Ohio congressman, claimed in his interview with CNN’s Tapper.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
a simple question
why the need to change the wording in the form at the same time they were vetting the whistleblowers statement?
coincidence?

Re: Florida State Seminoles
Funny how the lack of first hand knowledge didn't stop the Republicans from going after Clinton. Did Betty Currie see Monica go down? Did Linda Tripp?
