Gun Purchase Background Check Application.
MAGA hat wearers need not apply.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
For the sake of political cover you have to figure lawmakers will pass something pretty soon. I'm betting on a national registry, because we've become fairly immunized to registering crap. House, boat, car, vote...there'll be pushback, but it's probably the most likely outcome and least likely to be overturned. Even the ACLU makes noises about countering red flags and threat assessments

Re: Florida State Seminoles
There is a big difference between registering guns and registering houses, boats, cars and votes. When we register our houses, boats, cars and votes, nobody is afraid that the government will decide someday to come confiscate our houses, boats, cars and votes.
If there is a national gun registry, it just means that 299 million guns will be hidden in garages or buried in the woods somewhere. It won't stop mass murders at all. And when that happens, the failure of the national gun registry to stop mass murders will be the justification to start confiscation. That is the ultimate goal and always has been.
And when the confiscations start, it will be like Prohibiton x 10,000.

thank god I don't have any guns
I sold them all at a gun show a guy with a valid state issued ID whose name I cannot remember

I don't own any guns either. I gave them all to my grandmother just before she died. I wonder where they wound up.

Never mind that deputies confiscate property literally every minute of every day. Did you know that some foreclosures end with tear gas? Good Lord.Professor Tiger wrote:There is a big difference between registering guns and registering houses, boats, cars and votes. Again - political CYA is coming in some form - pick another poison if you like. I see no merit in a registry but I'm not paranoid about the thought of one either. Re: Florida State Seminoles
The man who killed nine and injured 27 in a mass shooting in Dayton, Ohio, was the lead singer of a "pornogrind" metal band, a genre defined by its explicit subject matter and themes of gore and violence, specifically sexual violence and necrophilia, BuzzFeed News has learned.
The gunman, identified as 24-year-old Connor Betts, was a member of Menstrual Munchies, a three-person band that performed regularly in the Midwest death metal scene, recently appearing as one of the bands at the Summer Massacre 2 concert in Chicago on June 29.
Pornogrind is a subgenre of a fast and extreme kind of heavy metal called grindcore, which is known for its mostly dark, satirical themes of sexual violence and gore delivered for shock value.
The band's song titles are explicitly sexually violent, such as "Preteen Daughter Pu$$y Slaughter" and "Cunt Stuffed With Medical Waste - Sexual Abuse Of A Teenage Corpse." The album art is equally explicit. One album cover shows a woman consuming feces, while another shows an illustration of a young woman's headless body chained to a bed, covered in blood, as a man puts his pants back on.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
Cat, pornogrind doesn’t kill people. Only guns kill people.
Tick, I’m not convinced there is much need for many Republicans to run for cover. A few maybe, like the guy with the eye patch from suburban Houston, but not enough to tip any big scales. We’ll see.
We can always go back to the old assault weapons ban. It banned those evil scary sounding “military style assault rifles.” In reality, it outlawed only certain cosmetics - like guns having pistol grips, flash suppressors, and even bayonet notches (in case a mass murderer wants to mount a bayonet charge.) It was beyond silly, and did absolutely nothing to prevent mass shootings, but it made liberals feel better. So yeah, bring back the old assault weapon ban. I never liked AR-15’s anyway.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
we have to stop this white supremacy and mass killing
In the two-week run-up to Gilroy, there were 36 other mass shootings from coast to coast — and 34 of those shooters were black. One was white and one Hispanic. These results echo a New York Times story from 2016 that stated, much to the surprise and chagrin of the reporters, that whenever there are three or more victims of gunfire, 75 percent of shooters in America are black.
we lead the world in mass killings
52 people shot in Chicago this weekend, 7 killed - if we want to talk about systemic racism in this country, lets start with the national media only caring about white people getting shot in mass shootings. Its very strange to me we're tying white supremacy to mass shootings when its clear the media doesn't care how many African Americans are dying or committing murders . There is nothing sensational about just another black person killing or being killed. There should be outrage in the black community over this - and they should be outraged that they only care about limiting the weapons of choice among white males which are statistically marginal in the overall gun homicide rate

I find it fascinating how fast people were able to grab their pitchforks and start piling on 8chan and try to get them taken off the web when basically all they did is be the first place where somebody was able to find this dickhead's post...that he posted on...wait for it...instagram.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
I just moved 90% of my 401K from a long range retirement fund to a stable fund - and went from a historic gain of 11.17% to 2.7%
I hope that it wasn't mistake.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
even though retirement (by my choice anyways) is still more than a decade away I'm at a point where I mess this up and I won't recover from it.
Seems like the bull run is near an end, would like to stabilize my fund until after the market adjustment I feel is coming. If it doesn't come by say January, then I'll load it back up in the long term 2030 plan.
also, both the El Paso and Dayton shooter passed background checks for their weapons purchase

Re: Florida State Seminoles
At some point as you come closer to the time when you actually need your money it makes perfect sense to convert to investments where preservation of capital is the goal rather than growth. If the fund you were in is already one with an estimated retirement date goal, its probably already happening in the background anyway.

I've been retired for 16 years... One good thing about teaching, you can retire in your early 50's and have a few years left to enjoy it. Would have hated to had to work 'till 65 like most. Not much time left to enjoy the golden years. Hang in there eCat... time passes quickly.eCat wrote:even though retirement (by my choice anyways) is still more than a decade away I'm at a point where I mess this up and I won't recover from it.
