Not to question your Mom's political instincts, but what would be examples of Bachmann's craziness?

No matter what, Rat's probably right on this one.

Who said it?

That part of me which wants to burn this mutha to the ground would vote for Ron Paul.

heh. I voted for Perot twice and have voted for both parties since for President. I'd have a really hard time voting for someone who you have no idea what their principals or beliefs are. That would be too close to voting for Greg Stilson for President.

Romney is strong in the polls right now because nobody but us political junkies knows his past. When the average Joe and Suzie sixpack looks at Romney, all they see is a GQ model former governor with tons of his own cash.

But as soon as somebody starts running ads showing clips of his passionate support for abortion, his deep personal commitment to gun control, and especially his hugging Ted Kennedy before signing Romneycare in MA (including the individual mandate), his poll numbers will fall like a rock.

I believe the first weeks call was when Bachman hit the main stream spotlight (my mom doesn't watch cable news, she watches network tv, Animal Planet, what remains of Court TV on TruTV, and various murder shows (especially "The First 24".) I suppose in the week after Bachman popped on mainstream tv my mom saw that she was a Tea Party leader (she thinks those folks are a bit nuts), saw that she had a closeted gay husband with a career in praying gay away, and I suppose some of her various nutty statements in the past started to get network news airplay. And I mean local Cincinnati news. I don't think my mom watches the national network news, except for like Good Morning America type stuff.

Thats it. She really likes the Cubans in Miami.

She also enjoys marveling at the mothers that come in and get their sons to confess. It boggles her mind.

I do believe that "Pride" is the worst of the seven deadly sins. That very remark was certainly echoed by Uncle Owen to "Bud" when he wouldn't call his wife Sissy in Urban Cowboy. But it is not just those seven deadlies where Pride rears its ugly head.

The term, possession is nine-tenths of the law, comes from the fact that nine of our Ten Commandments that the Lord our God gave to Moses the Lawgiver on that Holy mountain, are theft. To kill is theft of a life. Yes, you can take nine of those Ten Commandments and reduce them to nothing but theft, stealing something from someone that does not belong to you. But one of those Commandments is rooted in Pride. I'll leave it to you intellectuals to argue amongst yourselves as to which one is Pride. Lets see how smart you all are.

Why is pride the worst? Well, I'll tell you why I think it is. Pride makes us behave irrationally. Pride prevents a rational person from apologizing to someone after he has been proven he was wrong (I'm talking about you Professor.) Pride prohibits one from forgiving another. To NOT forgive, well, that is the most UnChristian thing a person can do. Pride separates loving families, it enables loving spouses to irrationally "keep score when they fight", it turns close friends into enemies (because one may need to compare himself to others), it makes us irrational! And it is PRIDE (nothing else) that makes a brilliant, hard-working, great looking, well-spoken (never lost a political debate), well-educated, loving, multi-millionaire father of five and grand-father of twelve, irrationally stick his head in the sand (or perhaps, up his own ass) to ignore logic and common sense and devoutly believe nonsense spouted by a treasure seeking sexual pervert (who turned 21 in the very early 19th century upstate New York) who was able to create a religion out of thin air for the sole purpose of gathering money and lawfully and MORALLY being able to fuck multiple women. PRIDE is what keeps so many Mormons (particularly the Temple Recommended ones who were born in that faith, the same ones who give their testimonies in church saying that they KNOW the church is true with tears flowing down their faces) from admitting in public what they already know, what everyone who posts here knows, that it is all a steaming pile of bullshit.

And you know what else BigMook? Pride is what prevents your mother from using her head and voting for Willard Mitt Romney in the GOP Primaries and the General Election because she (a true moderate) already knows that Mitt is probably the best man for the job, best person we've ever had to even run for President in a long-long time.

Yup, pride is the worst out of all of them.

Uh, no, the fact that mormons basic tenants are nutty AND simultaneosly change with the political winds is what keeps her from voting for Romney.

You know, converting Holocaust victims, magic undies, history of polygamy, changing that stance to get Utah in the Union, calling black folks "mud people" for years until that was no longer popular, believing you can become god of your own planet, etc. etc. These things leave her with the belief that she has no interest in a mormon president.

She knows that the people themselves are perfectly nice and has nothing against them. Let them believe whatever they like. She just doesn't want them making her laws for her.

I supported Romney in 2008 and I support him now.

Michelle Bachman is not very bright. Haven't we had enough stupidity in the last two Presidents?

I don't think that the Mormon religion is any 'nuttier' than any other religion (excepting pastafarianism, of course, the one true religon).
