Going next weekend to see the Reds play the Cubs in Chicago. Yeah I know I know the Reds suck, but I'm looking forward to a trip to Wrigley and a nice weekend in Chicago.

Re: Baseball
Sad reality of small market MLB baseball. Putting butts in the seats doesn't matter.
https://mlb.nbcsports.com/2019/01/07/a- ... -revenues/
"As MLB rakes in the corporate partner and the TV money, other sources of revenue become less-and-less important. Attendance, primarily. More expensive seats and concessions and the overall luxury-i-fication of the game-going experience has allowed teams to squeeze more money out of fewer in-person fans, but the fact is that there are fewer people interested and/or able to attend baseball games than in years past. That this is not a big hit to the bottom line is a relatively recent phenomenon, by the way. For most of baseball’s history, revenues depended upon attendance more than anything else. Now, not nearly as much.
“Fine,” you say. “The business of the game has changed. The only constant in life is change. It’s no reason to worry.”
Except there is one reason to worry: given the financial structure as currently set up, what incentive does any team have to, you know, win?"

Re: Baseball
I heard a story on NPR a few weeks back where they did a study on concession stand prices and the study showed that if they lowered prices to "normal" street vendor pricing, they make significantly more money in revenue
I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

Re: Baseball
I recently heard that San Diego gave a 3rd baseman a 10 year, 300 million dollar contract. Crazy!

Re: Baseball
I wonder if Puig is going to do anything for the Reds this year?

Ahhh, my old Midland teammate. I taught him a few tricks. I also stole a huge speaker off his porch.

The Kid still has the most beautiful swing of the modern era.
Had he been into PED’s, Bonds and A-Rod’s numbers would pale in comparison...

Re: Baseball
Are the Reds really still a team? Even the hilariously bad Mets have the best pitcher in the NL and will have a top 10 hitter in Cespedes when he comes back.

No. The Reds are a joke. 3 straight shutout losses. Haven't won a game since Opening Day. They are horrible right now. I blame the weather or that dead Fifer dude.
