So we are still calling these things "pipe bombs" this morning at CNN, the Washington Post, New York Times, etc? I guess at least the NYTimes admits later on that "none of the devices went off, nor is it immediately clear they could have," ummm yeah actually it is pretty clear that at least the one we have pictures of is a fake bomb just by looking at it. Fox News still seems to be going with "Suspicious packages"

Are we actually on a path here where we are going to end up equating someones idea of a moronic and sick fucking joke with them actually wanting to blow people up?

yeah, that flight crew is having a really, really bad day today. Maybe DS can file a class action suit against them and the whole Air Force on behalf of the homeowners near where the humvee landed. There was probably a lot of pain and suffering involved to everybody withing a ten mile radius, and the years of therapy that will be required to help the victims overcome the trauma will be extremely expensive.

It will be very interesting to find out who mailed those bombs. It's a good thing that Comey, Mccabe, and Strojk are no longer running the FBI; their bomb investigation would say Trump did it.

The Robert De Niro thing makes me think the source of this would be New York City. Do people across the country even think of De Niro as being associated with Clinton/Obama/Biden/etc? Its not like he's Alec Baldwin in terms of being the popular culture brand lefty. He gave a speech bashing Trump at an awards show I guess? One that nobody saw, since (again New York) it was the Tony awards.

it just makes me think its someone going out of their way to make a list of known Trump detractors and make sure everyone on the list got something.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Baldwin get something but while he's been attacking Trump, DeNiro is yelling Fuck You Trump into any open microphone he can find.

It's easy math. 330 million people...what percentage is batshit crazy? Half of one percent is still 1.65 million. And who's to say they have to be batshit to take action against perceived evil, against enemies of the state? These arent bombs, the amount of damage to the "enemies of the country" that they are capable of doing is next to zero. If its "rightists" that are responsible, then it falls in the category of sick joke, not crazy person rallying the troops against the evil team blue because trump said so.

But it ratcheted up dramatically when Trump was elected president.

You didn't have people protesting in the streets against Obama with bike chains, you didn't have Mayors of cities telling the police to stand down

No doubt there is a segment of society that feels emboldened because of Trump being president, but that hasn't lead to mass violence on their part to date, in fact , to my knowledge, all its led to is them being attacked when they try to assemble in public.

The timing of this is too suspicious. There is only upside for Democrats and only downside for Republicans. That's why its so hard for anyone to believe its *not* a sympathizer with liberal ideology that is behind this.

Duh. Obviously its still a crime. Its also still a threat and arguably a terrorist act. But obviously you can see that there is a difference between sending something that you want to blow up in someones face (ie attempted murder) vs sending someone something that is just gonna scare the shit out of them (a sick joke).
