States report moving violations to other states and have for some time now. It's not like the old days. Enjoy the drastically increased insurance rates.

this is the email he sent me
Kentucky will automatically send the ticket to Ohio. Unfortunately, with computers anymore insurance companies will find out about anything. It is my understanding Ohio will reference the ticket but they don’t give points for out of state tickets.

I got a ticket for 88 in a 55 right before I went on vacation, emailed my lawyer and told him the numbers, he emailed me back and said mail him the ticket and $450 and he'd get it reduced to expired registration, no points on my license...eCat wrote:looks like I get to keep my license, my budget priced lawyer got them down to 25 over so that I pay the maximum fine but don't lose my license.

I'm not going to say I won't ever get another speeding ticket but I'm pretty sure I'll never get one for that kind of craziness again.

turns out this one did better than I thought, he got me down to 15 over. The fine is only like $15 lighter but maybe the insurance won't have a cow.
It has to be paid in person for whatever reason, he offered to do it for me but we still have 2 spots left to hit on the Bourbon trail - Makers Mark and Evan Williams, so we going to pay the ticket and then go taste bourbon. Vice Versa probably wouldn't be advisable.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
I'm watching a documentary on Netflix called The Staircase about a writer named Peterson who found his wife at the bottom of the stairs. He claims innocence, Raleigh claims he killed her.
I'm watching it as I type this so I don't know the outcome, but Nifong makes an appearance early on and hes comes off as a complete dick. Cracking jokes while looking at the supposed victim autopsy photos.

The female ADA (Freda Black) went on to become a raging alcoholic who worked in a dry cleaners, and she died last week.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
I didn't want to invest the time to watch the whole series so I went to Wikipedia.
In the first episode the crux of the case was based on 2 things, the lacerations on her skull and the blood splatter.
so then I read this
"In August 2010, following a series of newspaper articles critical of the investigative tactics of State Bureau of Investigation agents, Attorney General Roy Cooper led an investigation, which resulted in the suspension of SBI analyst Duane Deaver, one of the principal witnesses against Peterson, after the report found his work among the worst done on scores of flawed criminal cases. T. Lawrence Pollard subsequently filed affidavits[21] to support a motion that Superior Court Judge Orlando Hudson order the state Medical Examiner's Office to turn over all documentation related to Kathleen Peterson's autopsy to Peterson's attorneys. However, Judge Hudson barred Pollard from filing further motions on behalf of Peterson because Pollard did not represent him. A new motion was filed in August 2010 by David Rudolf, one of Peterson’s original attorneys who acted pro bono in proceedings challenging the SBI testimony.[15][22][23]
Deaver was fired from the SBI in January 2011, after an independent audit of the agency found he had falsely represented evidence in 34 cases, including withholding negative results in the case of Greg Taylor, a North Carolina man who spent 17 years in prison on a murder conviction based on Deaver's testimony.[24] A bloodstain-analysis team that Deaver had trained was suspended and disbanded. In the 2003 Peterson trial, Deaver testified that he had been mentored by SBI bloodstain specialist David Spittle, had worked 500 bloodstain cases, written 200 reports, and testified in 60 cases. During the retrial hearing, SBI Assistant Director Eric Hooks testified that Deaver had written only 47 reports. SBI agent David Spittle testified that he could not recall mentoring Deaver who, since completing a two-day training course in the 1980s, had testified in only four cases, the Peterson case being the third. The SBI cited the bloodstain analysis given in the fourth case as the reason for firing Deaver"
sounds like the early to mid 2000's the Raleigh court system was a fucking joke
I have no idea whether the guy did it or not, as the series progressed (well into 2 episodes) he became less sympathetic in my eyes.
also, as crazy as it sounds 3 experts were consulted and concluded the lacerations on her skull were consistent with an owl attack. That sounds absurd but there were owl feathers from the talons/legs of an owl found on her.
