The Washington Post reports that the owner of the Red Hen, a small farm-to-table restaurant in Lexington, Virginia, refused to serve White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Friday night. Why? "This feels like the moment in our democracy when people have to make uncomfortable actions and decisions to uphold their morals," Red Hen owner Stephanie Wilkins told the Post. "We just felt there are moments in time when people need to live their convictions. This appeared to be one."

You can practically hear the neck-snapping double-takes from the American Right echoing across the internet. "Sarah Sanders can now drive in Saudi Arabia, but not dine freely in Virginia," conservative wit @Hale_Razor quipped on Twitter.

The treatment of Sanders at the Red Hen restaurant is the very incarnation of the double standard many conservative Americans feel they've lived under for years. Their social media feeds are full of liberals supporting the very same behavior for which they've been condemned as (literally) "bigots" and "Nazis."

Liberal activists who denounced the Colorado bakery rushed to the internet to celebrate the treatment of Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Trump is what the shrinks call the "presenting complaint." The real problem, as is often the case in psychotherapy, is something entirely different. And it is this: The left is dead. It's not only dead, it's decomposed with no there there or anywhere.

Only dopes or con artists believe in socialism anymore (hello, Venezuela!) and identity politics has been exposed as the racist shell game it is with blacks and Latinos actually doing better than they have in decades under the current pro-capitalist administration.

So the left has nothing to say, only most of them don't quite realize it yet. But this blockage, this reluctance and even inability to deal with what is actually happening shuts down the brain and emerges as anger, the hamster wheel of constant rage against Trump.

And that, of course, feeds on itself, as we have seen for the past year and a half, making matters worse, not just for the obvious reason -- the aforementioned alienation of the public -- but for what it does to their own minds.

Anger makes you stupid. When is the last time you heard a creative idea coming out of the left? (Herbert Marcuse? Okay, scratch that.) When is the last time they even debated the issues in a serious way rather than simply hurling invective or worse?

Infuriating them even more is that Trump is not even a conventional Republican or a conventional anything for that matter, making a mockery of people (like leftists) with rigid, reified (and highly conventional) ideologies that, in most cases, haven't altered one jot in decades.

Trump is the reverse. He's not a conservative either, but a Dengist, as in China's Chairman Deng Xiaoping (one of the most positive figures in the twentieth century for almost single-handedly overcoming Maoism), who abjured ideology and famously said "I don't care if a cat is black or white as long as it catches mice."


That's Trump to a T and the very opposite of his adversaries, who obsess about whether a cat is black or white and couldn't care less if it catches mice. Trump's pragmatism exposes their (no other word) bullshit. All they want to do is talk and do nothing. Thus, he leaves them naked, which generates yet more rage.

But again, it's their fault. As an ex-leftist myself, I am acutely aware how ideology can be used as an excuse for destructiveness. I attended meetings in the sixties and seventies where people endlessly discussed violent action, but almost never discussed what they really wanted to do if they took control. Sound familiar?

I've heard this "everybody else is talk, Donald is action" bs before. I think of Trump's crushing loses on casinos during a time when casinos were printing their own money. I think of Trump Steaks. Trump University, Trump Airlines, Trump Vodka etc. Unpaid contractors, broken contracts, lawsuits galore...yeah, he get's stuff done alright. Had some NBC exec not made the Trump name a brand who knows where he'd be right now (prison is a possibility).

one other issue that's come up lately--comey evidently had a chance to get the information from assange of who hacked the DNC emails (Hillary) and refused to grant immunity. assange has publicly said it want the Russians. if comey had info that it wasn't the Russians whoi hacked the DNC would have save a whole lot of effort from multiple investigatory arms if they knew russa wasn't the cultprit hacking the DNC don't you think?

The Supreme Court ruled Tuesday in favor of President Donald Trump in Trump v. Hawaii, the controversial case regarding Trump's September order to restrict travel to the U.S. for citizens of several majority Muslim countries.

In the 5-4 opinion penned by Chief Justice John Roberts, the court found that Trump's immigration restriction fell "squarely" within the president's authority. The court rejected claims that the ban was motivated by religious hostility.

"The [order] is expressly premised on legitimate purposes: preventing entry of nationals who cannot be adequately vetted and inducing other nations to improve their practices," Roberts wrote. "The text says nothing about religion."
