Why do you care more about the symbol than what the symbol represents?

Actually, even if NFL rating drop 25% (which they won't), players make 25% less money and they're all still millionaires and the people that quit watching are still angry miserable poor ass "patriots", but they feel like winners b/c they're now doing yard work on Sundays instead of drinking beer and watching football. Win/win...

I’d like to be in the room if the NFLPA announced to the players that, due to a loss of 25% of NFL viewership because of their kneeling during the national anthem, and the resulting loss of 25% of NFL profits, contracts will be 25% smaller for the rest of their careers.

The minute they figured out that they would only be able to afford 75 foot yachts instead of the customary 100 foot ones, their commitment to The Resistance would immediately disappear, and they’d drag Kaepernick behind their Maseratis for getting them into their mess.

It's surprising that a patriot like you wouldn't celebrate people exercising these hard won rights even at great personal expense.

Just b/c you've sold out on your entire existence, indeed, for pennies on the dollar (actually a pretty good value in your case) doesn't mean everybody else is willing to...

he is, he's celebrating his right to tell those guys to fuck off for not supporting the flag/national anthem and finding a more public palatable way of expressing their concern for their treatment before they play a game making millions and then driving home in their Bentley to their mansion.

Apparently millions of Americans are celebrating that same right by seeking other forms of entertainment besides watching the NFL. Freedom...ain't it great.

Xenophobe. How dare you!!!
Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is, I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.

McCabe was supposed to be in the right, just like Comey - a bold leader of integrity

and he's going to get reprimanded yet again for overstepping his bounds

seems like a running theme

I think this highlights my rationale for being hypocritical when it comes to cigarrette and alcohol addiction versus opioids (and by proxy, heroin)

It’s no secret that opioids kill more Americans annually than ever before. But a new study published Friday in JAMA Network Open highlights just how devastating the crisis has been to certain age groups. In 2016, it found, opioid overdoses were responsible for a fifth of all deaths among people in their mid-20s to 30s—a fivefold increase from 15 years ago.

The researchers looked at mortality data collected by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from 2001 to 2016. The overall percentage of deaths caused by opioids had jumped 296 percent over that time period, they found, accounting for 335,123 deaths in total. By 2016, one in every 65 deaths could be traced to opioids. They also estimated nearly 1.7 million years of life were lost prematurely to opioids that year, a toll higher than that caused by diseases like HIV/AIDS, high blood pressure, and pneumonia.

The toll isn’t evenly distributed among Americans, though. More than two-thirds of deaths were among men. And though much has been made of the growing number of deaths from drug overdoses among white, middle-aged Americans in recent years—so-called deaths of despair—the largest relative increase in mortality the researchers saw was in people from the ages of 25 to 34. Opioids accounted for about 4 percent of deaths in this age group in 2001, but a whopping 20 percent in 2016.

Heroin would be good for that, but meth might be quicker. But, like most diets, it's hard to keep the weight off when you quit the meth...

I hadn't thought of that. I've never been into the stimulants too much anyway. I can't even drink regular coffee...
