Re: Tennessee Volunteers
Adams has a whimsical article in the KNS today about the AD "non"search and the progress that is not being made in that direction.
I'd like to see the university pony up and get a top ten AD but apparently there's little steam for that since all of our major HC positions are set for the forseeable future. Plus we're still paying heavily for the contracts of the dearly departed - part of the unfortunate legacy of Radar O'Hamilton.
On the bright side, Ben Martin and Marlon Walls made it through the first week of camp (::knock wood::) w/o injury and Malik Jackson appears to be healing rapidly. And Jantzen Jackson is going to get a look at a rover position in the nickel package - they like the secondary depth situation and want to put JJ in position to deliver the most pain at crucial times. And there's the memory of what some of those Boise people said when Wilcox was hired - "give him until the 2nd year - then watch out."

Here is a quote from the article:
My third theory is more conspiratorial. What if all this is a scam, and UT has no intention of hiring an athletic director?
That has worked splendidly for Vanderbilt, which, by doing away with the AD position, has used the extra money to fund its nationally recognized bowling team.
hehehe

You know, the automatic "dig" is to say "Hire Fulmer" because of the hard feelings surrounding his football departure and many Vol fan's belief he let the program down at the end. Truth be told, he probably wouldn't be a bad choice. I expect he would be an excellent fund raiser.
...don't know if you'd be able to pry him away from his current gig though...

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
Aw, Phil wouldn't be a terrible choice, the Fulmer Cup notwithstanding. He's been past prez of the American Football Coaches Assoc., and he's been around college athletics his whole adult life.
To me, a massive part of the problem of hiring PF is his 6 mil buyout. Would he get a fat salary on top of all that out-the-door money? That's a huge consideration in my mind.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
Phil gets a buyout and the AD gets a nice salary regardless.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
What's the AD at UT make? 400k? Peanuts....Phil wants to fire Dooley and name himself interim. And by God, he could do it, too.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
You think that was funny? What was so funny about that? How was that funny? Explain yourself to me.
I don't think that was funny at all. Not one little bit. Your reaction, sir, offends my delicate sensibilities. And I just wanted to make sure that you knew that.

Heh. I didn't know what that was about until I just followed the action on the bama thread.
In a possibly related development, the Sabanator was especially terse with the media Monday - comparing stories of expections of a national championship with the ravings of a fortune teller.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
I would be happy to explain, Hack: the pic shows a torn up (looks like a bomb went off) area. Rat said he couldn't tell a difference which suggested that the area in and around the stadium was so dilapidated that it was indistinguishable in that state from the way it normally is.
Now, explain how this is funny: "I work at the same prison where Ingram's dad is serving time."
Because, I don't get it, and if it's funny (which you and PT think), I would love to know what about it is hilarious.
Is it because Ingram and his dad are black?
Because Ingram (but not his dad) went to UA?
Because it's hard to imagine PT gainfully employeed?
Because Ingram's dad and PT live up north?
Because Ingram's dad played for Mich State?
Really, I just don't get it and I can't imagine how even the most retarded of mongoloids could find humor in it. Hell, it's not even interesting to me. I don't find insult or sass in it. It's flavor-free cotton candy. There's nothing substantive to it. 'Splain it to me.
