I still can't get over how people are marching in Washington begging congress to take constitutional rights away from them

We're a struggling retailer in the era of Amazon. We're going to take a political stand and alienate the single customer base who purchases items Amazon can't compete with us against. We're certain there won't be negative consequences of this action to our stockholders.
Just weeks after halting sales of all firearms to customers under the age of 21 and banning AR-type rifles in its Field and Stream stores, retail giant Dick’s Sporting Goods announced a “deeper-than-expected” sales drop as their stock sank the most in four months, according to Fortune.

“There’s going to be some pushback and we expected that,” said CEO Edward Stack, in an earnings call with Wall Street analysts, CNN reports. “There are going to be the people who don’t shop us anymore for anything.”
its a shame all those people recognizing Dick's for their stand against gun sales (especially at their hunting oriented stores called Field and Stream) are still shopping elsewhere.

You'd think Target would be a good case study on creating a policy on a divided America
Nearly one year ago, Americans across the country initiated a boycott over Target’s transgender bathroom policy. Now, the company reveals the boycott really hurt the company’s bottom line.

On April 19 of 2016, Target publicized their bathroom policy in a blog post. The store stated their policy was that customers were welcome to use the bathroom of the gender they identify with, despite concerns over child safety.

“Inclusivity is a core belief at Target,” the company wrote. “Everyone deserves to feel like they belong. And you’ll always be accepted, respected and welcomed at Target.”

But according to a new report from the Wall Street Journal, Target CEO Brian Cornell says he never approved the post, only found out about it after it was published and said the ensuing backlash was “self-inflicted.”

More from Yahoo News:

The boycott cost the company millions in lost sales and added expenses. Shopper traffic and same-store sales started sliding for the first time in years after the blog post, and the company was forced to spend $20 million installing single-occupancy bathrooms in all its stores to give critics of the policy more privacy.

Sales fell nearly 6% in the three quarters after the post compared with the same period last year, and same-store sales have dropped every quarter since the post.

You gotta give them something this time. 100 gun bills introduced to Congress since Sandy Hook and nary a one passed. Either relieve a little pressure this time or the whole thing might blow

Before that story hit he was already out of the Senate and had lost the 2004 election with John Kerry.

Unless you are dumb enough to think he had any chance in the 2008 Presidential primary, he pretty much had already lost everything politically up to that point.

no you don't

My second amendment constitutional rights supersedes temper tantrums paid for by adults manipulating students who aren't old enough to vote.

while I don't know what the thing might blow actually means to you, I'm not concerned about the end result of it.

The spectacle of a bunch of Democrats - the party of Hollywood and Harvey Weinstein - suddenly becoming Puritans when it comes to sex between two consenting adults is gold, Jerry, pure gold.

To continue the John Edwards revisionist history analogy, did Stormy give birth to The Donald's love child?

If you want to see "the whole thing blow," try gun grabbing and watch what happens.

Add to that list the NFL and ESPN, who pioneered the business model of going out of their way to piss off their customer base. It did not work out as well as they had hoped.

So, what is Edwards up to these days? According to The Washington Post's Michael Leahy back in 2012, months prior to Edwards' acquittal, his life was pretty normal, if plagued by a lot of stress — amid spending time with his children, and residing at the estate that he'd left behind when Elizabeth filed for divorce in 2010, he also suffered a heart scare that momentarily delayed his legal proceedings.

Nowadays, however, he's back at the job that once earned him millions, and helped set the stage for his leap into elected politics. According to USA Today back in April 2014, Edwards is practicing law again, having opened up a law firm called Edwards Kirby, named after himself and his partner, David Kirby. His daughter Cate is also an attorney with the firm. They specialize in personal injury cases, which was always part of the right-wing knock on Edwards as a politician — fairly or not, personal injury lawyers are often labelled as "ambulance-chasers."

Basically, if you're a sucker for a good political redemption story, you'll likely be disappointed in this instance. Simply put, there's been absolutely no public indication Edwards will ever mount another run for office, and it's not hard to see why. Simply put, the combination of factors that led up to his fall from grace — a relatively usual political sex affair, amplified by the sleazy betrayal of his dying wife, and the tabloid headlines it generated — has basically closed the book on John Edwards, politician.

No Access Hollywood tape, no 16 women claiming unwanted sexual advances (think Al Franken), and no payoffs to porn stars and Playboy models. No three marriages, with wife number two claiming rape. Yet Edwards is persona non grata politically, not even a quick cameo on msNBC. Whereas Donnie is already campaigning for his re-election.

I know he is doing complex/catastrophic PI and wrongful death again. If you ask any attorney who saw or dealt with Edwards in the courtroom, they will tell you he was the best this state has ever produced.

Other than cheating on his wife dying of cancer, and fathering a love child with his mistress, I’ll always remember him as a hopeless fop:

so the facebook thing is a little more serious than I thought

I didn't know that in 2011 the FTC told them to take steps to protect privacy so Facebook came out with these privacy settings for people which did nothing. It didn't change a thing in terms of altering their ability to profile you base on your data. For every instance - meaning for every person - they did this to, its a $40K fine, and facebook has 2.2 billion..with a b...active users.

so Trump supposedly hates Silicon valley AND Obama pulled Zuckerburg aside and told him he had a serious data breach problem which may not have been ignored but it wasn't really acted upon in a transparent manner - where it would seem they have a response and took action upon it in light of the recent news. In other words, when this went public a few weeks ago, Facebook didn't have a prepared response showing the corrective action they had already taken.

I don't think the government is feeling very punitive about this to be honest because this is all kind of a "well duh!" situation, but if they wanted to, they could totally slam Facebook.

Trump is alot of things but so far he hasn't been punitive in regards to people that chose sides in the election. Facebook clearly chose a side.

New poll results. Not a lot of good stuff in here for Trump or the GOP when Kamala Harris and Kirsten Gillibrand outpoint him and it's clear that nearly errbody hates McConnell and Ryan.

report is that Ryan is stepping down.

Ryan and McConnell will be burned by Trump as much as any democrat in the last election.

People hate them and since they live in the Washington vacuum, only after Reibus was chase off for being a buffoon did they start to understand how much.

McConnell is so addicted to money they'll have to chase him off. Ryan seems like he has enough sense to quit without it being ugly.

The really important stuf

-37% of voters think Joe Biden would win a fistfight with Donald Trump, 32% think Trump would win, and 30% have no opinion either way.

-The NCAA is perhaps a less hated entity than you might expect with 35% of voters rating it favorably, 31% unfavorably, and 34% having no opinion either way. Only 29% think college athletes should be paid, to 57% who say they shouldn’t be.

-And finally 34% of voters think a hot dog is a sandwich to 51% who say it is not. When we polled on this in 2016 only 29% thought a hot dog was a sandwich and 60% said it was not. So much like our polling on gay marriage, marijuana legalization, and whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie the public may be evolving on this important issue but we will have to keep tracking it over time to see if the trend continues.
