the joint with Beyonce sounded weak to me, but Otis didn't grow on me until the 3rd/4th listen

Been sippin' brandy tonight and chillin' with some Isaac Hayes.

Not a particularly adept vocalist but Isaac's musical arrangements and bravado are classic. His use of horns and strings is pretty goddamn ingenious, too.

As I've always said, I would've been a serious "pimp" in the seventies had I reached puberty then.

The Sounds of Blackness attempted to re-make Strange Fruit but the chose an a capella style. Mixed results. The vocals were solid but the mood seemed to lack something without the instrumentation.

Anyone re-making "Strange Fruit" or "Feeling Good" after hearing Nina's rendition would be like somone repainting the "Mona Lisa" or resculping Michelangelo's "David".
