I hate to say it, but K saw UNC’s offensive weakness: playing against a press. UNC gets excited and takes the hurried shots that are the bait a full-court, zone press gives an offense. If you get hot, you can burn a press quickly that way, but the law of averages worked against UNC.

Luke Maye has a game every month or so where he thinks he can do things outside of his skill set and athletic capabilities, and last night was one of those games. Add to that Berry looking like a deer in the headlights, and you get an offense that plays into K’s defensive strategy.

On the defensive end, the shit defensive spacing and rotation, shit help defense, the shit rebounding position and lack of toughness and desire allowed Dook to run wild.

I stood outside in the cold for twenty or so minutes after the game. I was that angry at the bullshit I saw last night. Fuck the ACC tournament. Roy needs to take these boys into the practice gym beside the natatorium and have one of those old school practices where they take the rims off of the backboards and line trash cans along the side. They need a defensive and running based practice.

It's just who we are this year. We don't have the horses to impose our will, but if the 3's are dropping it doesn't matter. Or rather, dropping a bunch of 3's is one way of imposing one's will, but clearly the higher percentage method is to have some beef in the post, which has always been Roy's strategy. Hopefully Manley and Brooks make the sophomore jump that Dean used to talk about (and maybe Huffman will "jump" to Manley's level this year), they have both shown signs of being at minimum serviceable full-time players next year and hopefully better than that. I certainly think they could be comparable to Meeks/Hicks and we saw what they helped produce their last two seasons. Clearly they are not there right now nor do I expect some magical improvement over the next few weeks, but at least it's something to look forward to. It's real simple for this team though, hit a bunch of 3's or the chances are very good they're going home. But we really do have 4 good shooters and a really good distributor in Pinson, so it is certainly possible for them to hit enough shots between them to keep us winning. Chances are not great, though...

I didn't watch the game since it turned out the way I figured it would. Carolina might get past the Sweet 16. I'm just hoping Dook doesn't run the table and UK gets sent home early too.

I get that but the mental lapses and effort issues are infuriating...

The last time a team won the NCAA tournament with double digit losses is 1988.

You know what’s weird about getting older? How your memory works. It’s easier for me to remember who won in 1978 than 1988. It’s the same with World Series and Super Bowl winners. I think you are talking about Kansas but I’m not sure without looking. While in 1978 I could rattle off the Duke and Kentucky lineup. I can rattle off winning teams of Super Bowls 1-15, but would struggle through the 80s and 90s. Maybe it’s because as a kid there is not much else going on that clutters your mind.

yea, its Kansas

I guess the biggest thing for me getting older is the concept of time. 2005 still seems like a couple of years ago - I guess because nothing really changes in any dramatic way, same house, same job, same sex life but to somebody who is 16, or 20 or 25, 4 years is constant and complete change. I"m envious of my kids because they have everything in front of them - a whole life of "firsts".

My whole life since graduating college has been go where the job is - so consequently I ended up in some less than desirable places to live - Frankfort, KY, Pascagoula, MS and a couple of desirable locations too - Nashville, TN and Austin, TX - but I landed in this little suburb town in Ohio - not the worst place to live but nothing that really makes you get up in the morning and appreciate it. I mean we get excited if we get a Chick-Fil-A. I can't drive 5 miles to climb a mountain ,see a broadway play or pick up fresh fish off the boat. The trade off is I live a pretty comfortable life in a relatively low cost of living with everything I need to have a full life within 12 miles. Just not an enriching life unless you count that horseshit family and friends stuff as enriching.

I told my kids to pick the place they wanted to live and then figure out how to live there. Especially when you're young - living in a small apartment with maybe a few less dollars in your pocket is worth it if you wake up to a place worth living. Probably means they'll move more than 4 hours away and I hate that, but that's life.

Same here. Our family was lower middle class and I had to work through teens, college, right out of college. I’ve worked in the same firm for 27 years. Lived in a nice city, but not spectacular. Now am partner and make great money, but too busy to enjoy fruits of my labor. Every year has been the same until I moved cities two years ago. My kids benefit because 1) they have a safety net and 2) they get to travel more at a young age than I have ever done. I just have to live five more years then I think I can start to enjoy life.

How does that translate into an angry Trump supporter? I get the rust belt coal miner who got used for his labor and now has been spit out due to the changing realities of life and industry, but you?

true, but even the bad stuff doesn't seem like such a big deal

of course it was at the time.

That's part of just being where I am in live - You can tell a 24 year old divorce is not bid deal, losing your job, getting evicted, filing bankruptcy - because you know that with time you will recover (assuming you just aren't a constant train wreck of a human being) but of course at the time when it happening you think its the end of the world.

I'm sure an 80 year old man would tell me the same thing about the fears I have in my life right now. I did have an 83 year old man tell me a couple of weeks ago that I'm a young man, but his perspective was much different as in "I bet your pecker still works" or I can walk up a flight of stairs. That's young to an 83 year old.

You've seen me post here over the years, you know I have empathy for those people. There for the grace of god........

I've never been one of the types that proclaim I worked hard to get where I am, or that I earned my place in life. Matter of fact, I've felt lucky to be where I am - one wrong decision, one bad economy, one major health crisis - and I could easily be in a different place. I live by an idea that you wake up grateful for what you have and you give a little back to keep in the good graces of karma. Now that I'm older there is a bigger buffer between tragedy and tranquility but it hasn't been that long since I've had that fear of losing it all due to the economy or our government deciding to pick winners and losers.

I'm glad I spent most of my 20s and 30s living in different places and not cranking out kids and paying off a mortgage. Now that I am paying one off, I wish I was still living in an apartment and had more money for everything else.
