Well, I think the obvious difference is that Japan attacked us and declared war on us and was in league with another power that did the same. Of course, a true leftist would say why were we in Hawaii in the first place, much less how could we justify declaring it as "our" territory at all, but I get the feeling that Japan would've eventually attacked California if we hadn't been in Hawaii, so at least that provided us with a buffer. The bottom line, though, is irregardless of the justification of us being in Hawaii at all, Japan knew exactly what they were doing when they attacked us there and no doubt knew what the results of it were going to be. Nothing of the sort happened in Vietnam...

No doubt. Polls are out there that pretty much equate Antifa with the KKK and neo-Nazis, which is pretty astounding itself. Antifa has a body count of zero whereas the Kluxers and Nazis can boast some pretty high numbers of victims lynched, gassed, or otherwise gruesomely murdered.

Suffragettes routinely got their heads split open, war protesters routinely got their heads split open - singing hymns, shouting slogans of flower power, peace, love and understanding notwithstanding, lefty pacifists (now referred to as snowflakes) who organized protests have been getting their ass handed to them for generations. Now comes a relatively small group of black-clad punks calling themselves anti-fascists who claim to want to slug back at these occasions. For that and several hundred overturned trash cans Fox News and their ilk have labeled them a terrorist organization on par with ISIS.
Antifa are communist affiliated agitators who have been around for decades, not some kind of new backlash because pacifists were treated roughly. They are the flip side of the neo-nazi coin and the two groups have been beating the shit out of each other in the underground punk/skinhead scene for decades because that scene is magnet for angry young disgruntled radicals from both wings.

From The Atlantic Sept 2017 issue. The Rise of the Violent Left:

Antifa traces its roots to the 1920s and ’30s, when militant leftists battled fascists in the streets of Germany, Italy, and Spain. When fascism withered after World War II, antifa did too. But in the ’70s and ’80s, neo-Nazi skinheads began to infiltrate Britain’s punk scene. After the Berlin Wall fell, neo-Nazism also gained prominence in Germany. In response, a cadre of young leftists, including many anarchists and punk fans, revived the tradition of street-level antifascism.

In the late ’80s, left-wing punk fans in the United States began following suit, though they initially called their groups Anti-Racist Action, on the theory that Americans would be more familiar with fighting racism than fascism. According to Mark Bray, the author of the forthcoming Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook, these activists toured with popular alternative bands in the ’90s, trying to ensure that neo-Nazis did not recruit their fans. In 2002, they disrupted a speech by the head of the World Church of the Creator, a white-supremacist group in Pennsylvania; 25 people were arrested in the resulting brawl
.

Me, I see somebody on the flip-side of neo-Nazis and skinheads as a positive. As long as the definition of flip-side is 'reverse or opposite of'. I mean - they literally call their club Anti-facist... .... Anybody here pro-facist?

Communist vs Fascist, Radical vs Reactionary is a fight as old as time, and no I'm not going to choose Fascist or Communist. Fuck them both.

Also, btw, neo-nazi and skinhead are not synonyms. Skinhead does not indicate a political affiliation, and includes communists, leftists, radicals, but also the fascist neo-nazis, as well as apolitical and anarchist types. Skinheads as a group have simply been the recruiting battleground (literally in some cases) for each wing.

I wonder if any bald people have been unfairly targeted by anti-skinhead groups?

Trying to put a white hat on Antifa is the epitome of enabling. The below has come to be defined as protest by msm.

There are antifa groups around the world, but antifa is not itself an interconnected organization, any more than an ideology like socialism or a tactic like the picket line is a specific group. Antifa are autonomous anti-racist groups that monitor and track the activities of local neo-Nazis. They expose them to their neighbors and employers, they conduct public education campaigns, they support migrants and refugees and they pressure venues to cancel white power events.

The vast majority of anti-fascist organizing is nonviolent. But their willingness to physically defend themselves and others from white supremacist violence and preemptively shut down fascist organizing efforts before they turn deadly distinguishes them from liberal anti-racists.
from a WaPo article What is Antifa?

I originally called them punks but having read further that wouldn't be accurate - some are, some aren't. Yeah, I guess they blew up toe's police car (sorry about that). And they've broken windows and really do have a fetish about trash cans. But it's not like they've blown up abortion clinics and murdered abortion providers. You don't see Pro-Life people getting the ISIS tag do you?

A protest that begets street violence is bad, period. I'll end on that note (and give way to more examples of anti-fascist/anti-racist treachery).

More enabling.......

So what causes more damage, exposing neo-Nazis or exposing capitalism? I won't take the time post all the damage done all over the world during various G-8, G-20, WTO festivities.

It really shows what a day to day disgrace Trump has been that his behavior towards the disaster in PR has barely even registered.

Antifa's well deserved reputation as a gang of irrational violent Marxist goons comes from the unedited youtube videos of Antifa behaving like the bunch of irrational violent Marxist goons that they are, not Fox news.

its one thing to confront Neo Nazi's, its another to beat up Trump supporters. When you decide someone who has political beliefs different than yours must be confronted with violence to stop them from expressing their beliefs, you've earned the reputation of being mixed in the same sentence with any other violent hate group in America

and no, don't even try to that Trump Supporters are Neo Nazis.
