I am going to defer to anyone on this site with actual military experience. I have never served. I don't own a gun. I have fired rifles and shotguns at ranges but not since I was in Boy Scouts. That said, I have to say I am impressed (amazed) with those two Capital police officers. Consider:

• Dickhead shows up with an M-4 Carbine semi-automatic rifle
• He takes a defensive position hiding behind the 3rd base dugout
• The dugout is made up of concrete and cinderblocks
• He fires, hits our majority whip (who as of this posting I still believe is in critical condition)
• Both officers go for their 9-millimeter pistols
• They draw dickhead's fire ONLY to them (he has a rifle, they have hand guns)
• The two sides exchange fire from the corner of the first base dugout to the 3rd base dugout
• this continues unabated for 4 minutes while "reinforcements" have yet to arrive
• and the whole time, Dickhead is NOT killing my Senator Jeff Flake

4 fucking minutes?!?! This is like Hollywood in its unreality. The only reason why Flake, Rand Paul, and all the other "defenseless" congressmen aren't dead (including another congressman's two sons!), was because the Majority Whip is entitled to personal security, two Capital Police officers. Both of them were shot I might add. And I'm sorry, a fire fight at a range of 120 feet across the width of a baseball diamond where your side has two hand guns and their side has semi-automatic rifle, and only the shooter is dead, I think those two cops should each be given the Congressional Medal of Honor (if that is possible.)

Those two congressional police officers are truly studs. It is EXTREMELY difficult to hit a target at that distance with pistols, much less in the stress of a real firefight and not on the range, much less when you yourself are wounded.

They do indeed deserve a congressional Medal of Honor level award.

What's false about it? A deranged liberal taking target practice on Republican congressmen is already "old news" in one week. If it were the other way around, CNN would have had to start a new CNN-TMM (CNN-Trump Mass Murderer) channel in order to handle all the 24/7 keening.

BTW, the Dem's just went 0-4 in congressional special elections since Trump's election. In their defense, a Republican beating a Democrat in Georgia should hardly be newsworthy, but Handel only won by 3. That's a pretty impressive showing for the Dem's in a usually red district.

I'm just glad the tsunami of local campaign commercials is over now.

Hello. Week-old news is by definition is "old news". Every single thing to know about the shooter is known. Plus, he's still dead.

The only question is which will go bankrupt first: Chicago or Illinois?

It's a shame; both are filled with mostly hard-working, conscientious and responsible people who would never dream of running their personal finances the way their elected leaders have run their city/state. But I think the voters there have been so accustomed to corruption and incompetence from their leaders for so long, they think it is normal, and just keep voting the crooks back into office no matter what they do.
