Re: South Carolina Gamecocks
Whadya say, Spur? Can the 'Cocks avoid withering under the pressure of high expectations?

Re: South Carolina Gamecocks
I am predicting my first ever 10 win season for my Gamecocks at 10-2. I think it will be tough with the target on them, but this team has a chance to be very good. I have them losing 2 of the 3 at MSU, at UT, and at Ark. Those 3 straight road games will be a tough task.I think all of those games are winnable, but I'm guessing low because they have to show me first.
I like the leadership on this team, and think Garcia will have his best year yet.
10-2 with another trip to Atlanta works for me.
What is your take on Carolina Hack?

Re: South Carolina Gamecocks
My gut tells me you'll underachieve. But I guess that's easy to say when the expectations are so high. Looks to me like you've got 9-10 wins in your schedule -- maybe more. But you'd better not get caught napping against East Carolina or Navy. Those two look like potential ambush games to me. A lot depends on how good Auburn and Florida will be, too. That's especially true for the Gators, who you play late in the season.
I'm really interested to see what kind of season Lattimore has, though, and if Garcia can be consistent throughout the year.

Spur, y'all had a 10-win season in 1984. I remember that because y'all were undefeated late in the season and Navy, of all teams, ended the run.

Yeah, that was when Joe Morrison was coaching. Always liked him. Was in South Carolina when he died.

Although, I had nothing to do with his death.

I refuse to comment further on the grounds that it may tend to incriminate me.

Re: South Carolina Gamecocks
Was a big fan of Morrison. Saw him live in 1970 at one of those (fairly) rare Saints-Giants match-ups. Was played at Toolane Stadium. Dad used to be able to get us on the sideline for pre-game (he was friends with someone in Saints mgmt). Wish I had known enough about him then to get his autograph. I've never been much of an autograph guy - even back then - which is a shame considering some of the players I've been on the field with.

The Morrison days were fun for sure with Joe lee Dunn running the D and both smoking on the sidelines. Ahhhh, those were the days... the blessed 80's

I mean to say, I have never predicted the Gamecocks more than 9 wins in a preseason prediction until this year. I still have a hard time doing it now, but this team is more talented than any I remember.

Joe Lee is a DC at a small school in Abilene, McMurry U. None other than Hal Mumme is the head coach.
