All UNC needs to do is make sure the president of the NCAA is a personal friend of your head coach. Then, UNC needs to make sure that the NCAA Director of Enforcement is a graduate and fan of your school.

That arrangement worked for Nick Saban and Alabama for years, and successfully kept all their rules violations under wraps. A similar arrangement would work for UNC now.

UNC called for Sankey's recusal because, among other reasons, he is a potential witness:

"A second reason for the recusal request likely carries far greater importance. The NCAA determined that Auburn University did not commit academic fraud in 2005-06 by allowing student-athletes to take independent study classes taught by Sociology department chair Thomas Petee and adult education professor James Witte that required minimal, if any, time in the classroom. Petee taught 252 independent study courses in one academic year (2004-05).

Sankey was an associate SEC commissioner during that investigation, and therefore his participation in that review makes him a potential witness in UNC’s investigation due to the similarities in the cases, according to Abrams.

“This argument renders Mr. Sankey a potential witness in this matter because he personally possesses material factual information that is not part of the the record,” Abrams wrote."

It's one of several, but most importantly, it's one that will matter to a real judge if this case goes to court, even if it doesn't matter to the folks running the kangaroo court of the NCAA...

Heh. hedge sounds just like AA did back in the old days when the NCAA still made an attempt to hold Bama accountable for their violations.

If I'm right, and UNC has joined the "too big to fail" club, then the Tar Heel faithful don't have a thing to worry about.

Post by eCat and my reply, from March 30 of last year...
hedge wrote:"my point is the ride is over for Roy. He will not be going back to another one as coach of UNC"

We shall see. The cupboard isn't exactly going to be bare in Chapel Hill next year. Hard for me to see anybody on this team except Brice Johnson going high in the draft. If we have Berry (who has played better this year than Paige and I believe was more highly rated coming out of high school), Jackson, Meeks and Hicks back next year, combined with Pinson and Britt, there's no reason we shouldn't make another run next year. We'll have another seasoned, veteran team coming off at minimum a FF run. Of course, the NCAA may have something to say about any postseason hopes we have, but next year's team should be pretty strong...

And if Berry and Bradley come back for next season, we should be set to make another FF run. We will need both of those guys for that to happen, and Bradley, especially, I think could work himself into a very high lottery pick. He could have a season that will look like a combination of Tim Duncan and Anthony Davis...

Enjoy breathing the rarified air of your elite status.

The only thing that could make it better would be to put Duke and NC St. on NCAA probation as punishment for their insolence.
