that's actually a good alternative to a pocket door which the average joe doesn't have the skills to put in.

the mechanics I'm fine with. The material, not so much.

Yeah its nowhere near the same look. I can see going rustic with nice old hardware maybe, but the actual door being so rustic as well, not into it.

A better idea would be hang the door so it comes down instead of sideways and that it drops on its own without you having to pull it. Make sure the door is made of metal and is very heavy and has a very sharp edge along the bottom...

for you guys in the corporate world

if your organization, team or even as an individual is clearly under performing - say to the extent you have -75% margin - when the big bosses fly you in for a meeting from around the nation, bring in the entire management team to train you, and they come to you and say "we want you review our processes and use the tools we have for forecasting because everyone else is doing quite well", they aren't really interested in hearing about how the tool sucks and that's why you aren't using it.

I was in a meeting with 26 people yesterday. 3 of them I suspect will not be employed by end of next week because of the stupid statements they made during this meeting.

I'm only posting this because I'm constantly amazed a how clueless people really are in managing their career. One of the guys said something to the effect of "sell me on why doing this is (a process to accurately forecast revenue) is worth my time" to our V.P.. The V.P. made eye contact with me when the guy finished his sentence, I'm sure I had a look like this on my face

Image

it was especially difficult because this group of 26 people were responsible for an organization of about 800 people losing roughly 20% of their quarterly bonus.

In the past I've posted things like this and that was usually Crow's opportunity to come on here, call me a giant pussy for not telling the bosses to go fuck themselves and then insult my manhood, questioning how I could even satisfy a woman.

Don't put off to tomorrow what needs to be done today. Fire them all.

I once had a manager who worked for me that said a new company directive was "Mickey Mouse". I called a break and fired him. When we reconvened someone asked where Tom was, I stated, "he is no longer with us."

The attitudes changed immediately.

1. RE: Barn door. That shit looked horrible. That dude has watched too much HGTV Fixer Upper and thinks he's that half-Asian broad when it comes to decorating. Next he'll have shiplap in his bathroom.

2. RE: aTm's place. Damn, y'all motherfuckers were all up in his mirrors to get a good look at his home. That's some dedication to sass if I've ever seen it.

3. RE: "I'm constantly amazed a how clueless people really are in managing their career." Yep. The thing is, if you were to tell them ahead of time it was a bad move to say something like that it's a 15% chance they'd heed the the warning, if they ever would, for more than 2 days. People really do regress back to their mean.
The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.

I think it would be in bad taste to fire the entire management team from a newly acquired company

You guys are lucky you are managers in the corporate world, and not in government. You can fire underperformers and backtalkers, and they're gone immediately.

In federal government, managers can't fire anybody, including underperformers (which is half the workforce). I've seen subordinates basically say gfy to their bosses, and nothing ever happened. Bosses in federal government must take a LOT of blood pressure medicine.
