Waffle House doesn't need games at their table. It doesn't need fake memorabilia on their walls. It doesn't need to attach itself to a general store. It has been around longer, and will be still around a lot longer than the flash in the pan, Cracker Barrel closes its doors.

Don't get me wrong. I like Cracker Barrel. Their food is good. But it always looks like a big bus from the local retirement village just stopped off for dinner on their way home. There's a special parking area just for their scooters. CB might as well close at 7:00 pm when their customer base is just getting into bed for the night.

Here's the difference between CB and WH: There's always an old shotgun on the wall at CB, but you know that old shotgun is just a prop made in Japan to look homey. There's also a shotgun at WH, but it is real, sawed off, loaded, kept behind the counter, and used once a week when things get a little too rowdy late at night.

Decent assessment of the difference in ambiance. As far as food, they're both just glorified salt licks. Bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy, some kind of hash (only unsalted product is eggs, and you know 99% of the clientele is going to correct that oversight the second the plate is slapped down in front of them). There ain't but so many ways you can prepare these items. If you get tired of doubling your blood pressure with salt, there's always pancakes or waffles that you can drown in syrup to throw your insulin levels into overdrive and put you into a diabetic coma. Warsh all this down with tea so sweet that it has the consistency of honey or molasses. Clearly the healthy choice b/w these two places would be to sit at home and shoot up heroin...

The effect of sodium on blood pressure is greatly overstated. In fact, with good kidneys, salting your food is no issue at all.

Eggs are eggs, but the meats and sides are of a higher qulaity at Cracker Barrel. If you talk biscuits, gravy, bacon, sausage, grits, hashbrown casserole and fried apples (the latter two not even available at WH), there is no comparison. Also, Cracker Barrel has a very good apple butter.

I'm fine with Waffle House, but with bought breakfast Waffle House is a step back... Cracker Barrel is just better. It's not even that close.

CB needs the ability to make a omelet.

instead they throw you 5 different combo's of the same thing always with smothered gravy/grits/applesomething that you know they have heating up in a 55 gallon barrel back there since its a mainstay everytime

plus I always get stuck with the 1 star waitress with no teeth

bob evans anytime over CB

Omelet?? Always pegged you for a cheese-eating surrender monkey. This is America. Eat your eggs like a man: runny and then sop up the yolk with biscuit, Nancy.

You get the toothless 1-star waitress because they try to match staff with similar customers.

What, they make sure no rats got ground up in the sausage? Doubtful...

mushroom pepper sausage and cheddar with some or tobasco and sausage gravy \
hashbrown crispy with a tad of salt
busciut with a little butter and strawberry jam

you can have your CB

If they match up staff to customers you must get a combo of Otis the drunk and barney fife serving your vittles

I still say heroin is more healthy and satisfying than either of these options...

I dislike the smug look on the country folk sitting on the porch at CB, saying, "We-uns gawt the muny to come eat sumwhar most of 'em out our way don't!"

Whereas at WH, it's just pure grit rednecks and a bunch of yankee tourists who stopped off from the interstate. Also, the black folk don't go to CB as much as WH and I'm sure that keeps the aforementioned Trump Trainers happy.

Cracker Barrel doesn't offer hash browns that are smothered, covered, chunked, diced, peppered, capped, topped, or country.

Waffle House - 8
Cracker Barrel - 0

Game over.

Did you keep that handy to cut and paste when appropriate or do you just have it committed to memory?

You stole my sass and came up with that? Wow. You should be embarrassed.

Prof,

CB will top or add to their hash brown casserole anything that you want. It's a better product.

Waffle House is really only good at 3 AM when you are drunk or high.

CB needs neither the late night nor the drugs to get the job done.

CB has a good fried shrimp dinner. I wouldn't waste money there for breakfast though. There's 2 dozen local joints that put out a far superior breakfast around here, esp. when it comes to biscuits.
