Well that didn't take long.. 2 months into the new regime and there's saber-rattling involving nukes. The Big Cheeto may not be as high up on the crazy scale as Kim Jung-on but at this point the gap may not make much difference. For all those who wanted Trump to come to D.C. and 'blow everything up', looks like you may get your wish.

If universal health care is what the public wants, then we should do away with the public/private sector monstrosity that is Obamacare, which failed miserably. Just bite the bullet, go to single payer and be done with it.

It would have its advantages. Everybody gets to go to a doctor for little or no cost. A lot of people will be very happy about that. To me, the best argument for it is people in Canada love their single payer system; and would riot in the streets and burn down parliament if anybody tried to take it away from them. Just like old Americans and their Medicare.

But there would be some significant downsides, that every American would need to understand.

First, US taxes will go way up. That "free" health care must be paid for by somebody, and that somebody is everybody. Canadians don't mind the high taxes because they don't have to pay much at all for their national defense. We won't have that luxury'.

Also, the quality of free health care would be WAY lower than what most Americans have come to expect. Now, if you need a CAT scan today to find out what's causing that pain in your abdomen, you get the scan and the results within a day or two. Under single payer, your name goes on a waiting list for a CAT scan, and you might get it in a couple of months. That would shock most Americans.

Everybody would also need to understand that the same government that provides the customer service of the DMV, the efficiency of the US Postal Service, and the medical loving care of the VA, will be in charge of your health care. That should be scary for anybody.

Also, the advancement of medical research will slow to a crawl. There will no longer be any profit for a Merck or a Pfizer to invest in developing new breakthrough medicines. Americans won't like that.

Finally, I predict a string of high quality hospitals will pop up on the Mexican side of the border. Right now, prosperous Canadians routinely go to US hospitals when they need treatment and don't want wait months for routine tests. It's so common that treatment in America is even covered in their high end insurance policies. After single payer arrives here, rich Americans will go to Juarez like rich Canadians now have to go to Detroit in order to get what is available to
most average Americans.

But if that's what the public wants, so be it.

You ain't kidding. I just read in a small, obscure military journal (the kind that the NORK's read) that the US is deploying a drone system that can stealthily orbit NORK missile launch sites. They can put hellfires into ICBM's right after they lift off, before they gain much speed and altitude, and are therefore easily shot down.

The same article said that we are deploying SEAL Team 6 as part of our regular annual training exercises with the South Koreans. The article said the SEAL's will specifically train to do to Kim 3.0 what they did to Bin Ladin. I'm sure that "leak" got plenty of attention in Pyongyang.

So far, I'm fine with that. Especially after they launched 4 missiles into Japanese waters. That obese little teenager needs to know that he is no longer dealing with a feckless weakling US president.

Remember the 3 judges in the 9th circuit who said Trump's immigration ban on certain muslim countries was unconstitutional? Well, a 5 judge panel of the 9th circuit ruled 4-1 that they were full of shit. The one judge on the panel who agreed with the original ruling has such a shallow reason that he should be impeached.
