Re: Florida State Seminoles
so what evidence do they have with the Russians?
I keep hearing about all this Russian stuff - investigations, dossier's, wiretaps, etc., and I've yet to see anything.

They don't have anything eCat. But this isn't about the Russians. This is about trying to get Trump to stop with his crusade against immigrants (both illegal and legal) and to get him to stop with the executive orders defunding abortion internationally. His getting this job was a democratic nightmare. His doing the job the way the job is intended and operating within that job's authority, that is a non-starter.eCat wrote:yea, that's what they tell me.aTm wrote:Russia hacked the election!

FTR, I don't think anything the Russians did had an outsized influence on the election, moreso than Hillary running a horrible campaign and being unable to take control of her narrative. She had everything she needed to win the White House, but she didn't know how or was too arrogant to utilize everything to the fullest.
I don't know what exists wrt the Russian hack...or if there is anything except for the Russians hacking and dumping emails. I do know that a political candidate having a dialog with the Russians about how they will engage the foreign entity before they get in office (and giving incentive to a foreign entity to do whatever it can to aid that candidate) is pretty explosive and dangerous. Our sovereignty and adherence to the principles of Western Democracy is threatened when things like that happen. It's a real concern for me...much moreso than if the ACA is repealed or unsavvy investors get screwed over by advisors because the fiduciary rule was scaled back (and I care about both of those things, but it is all held together by our sovereignty and the idea surrounding our form of government).

Re: Florida State Seminoles
What they have are FBI (so they say) documented meetings with the Russians. That's it, at least from what I can tell. But what they also have are Trump people (and Trump) lying about it. Bill Clinton lied about a blow job and he got impeached. Tell the truth or face the consequences.
As far as Russians hacking the election, I thought it was about putting out the info on Hilary and her emails that created the furor. FTR, she probably wasn't going to win either way and someone certainly "hacked" into Trump's "grab the pussy" conversation with Billy Bush and that could have cost him the election. Either way, it's what happens in contentious elections. Maybe it shouldn't but it does.
But what we all need to ask is what is Trump's fascination with Russia and why is Putin so interested in making Trump president? The short answer is that Putin realized what a dope Trump is and figured he would be able to manipulate him. Whether that has to do with the golden showers or not is moot. Trump clearly believes Putin is a valuable ally but why? My guess is that Trump has designs on going to war in the Middle East with Russia at our side. If that's the case, I think we should all be concerned. Russia at its best should be considered a cautious ally. With Putin running the show, Russia is far from its best as far as US interests go.

My buddy is a chef in the Cary area. He does some catering to some schools and in a few of the schools there are some Muslim kids who are living with friends because their parents aren't allowed back in the country. The parents went to a funeral in mid January in the Middle East and haven't been able to come back. Their kids still go to the school and are staying with friends. That must be surreal for both the parents and the kids.

lots of damaging CIA stuff being dumped by Wiki
The "UMBRAGE" section is interesting....
The CIA's hand crafted hacking techniques pose a problem for the agency. Each technique it has created forms a "fingerprint" that can be used by forensic investigators to attribute multiple different attacks to the same entity.
This is analogous to finding the same distinctive knife wound on multiple separate murder victims. The unique wounding style creates suspicion that a single murderer is responsible. As soon one murder in the set is solved then the other murders also find likely attribution.
The CIA's Remote Devices Branch's UMBRAGE group collects and maintains a substantial library of attack techniques 'stolen' from malware produced in other states including the Russian Federation.
With UMBRAGE and related projects the CIA cannot only increase its total number of attack types but also misdirect attribution by leaving behind the "fingerprints" of the groups that the attack techniques were stolen from.
UMBRAGE components cover keyloggers, password collection, webcam capture, data destruction, persistence, privilege escalation, stealth, anti-virus (PSP) avoidance and survey techniques.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
Well, assuming that which ever nation state did the hacking of the DNC email servers (be it Russia or Israel or whomever) wanted to do this to get Trump elected at the expense of HRC, we must also assume that no hack was attempted of the RNC email servers (since, what would be the point????), and we can further assume that no link exists between Trump and (Russia, Israel, whomever) because by now, we would all see the evidence and someone (somewhere) would have stepped forward, then the $64,000 question remains: why would any nation state want to do anything at all to try and throw the election to DJT? What is in it for them?aTm wrote:McAfee said something like this as soon as it came out. Jewish US citizens almost (not quite, but almost) vote Democrat line. This ties very closely with Judaism's foundational beliefs in socialism and liberalism. I can't imagine the Israeli government (what with all that money for AIPAC and their connection to the democratic party) was all that happy that Trump was elected and HRC wasn't. But then again, maybe they were? And if it isn't Israel that did it and it was Russia, how does Russia gain? And if it wasn't either of these two nations, then name a nation that gains with a DJT victory? No way is it China. Or Mexico. Or Iran. Or Saudi Arabia. Which nation hates/is-threated-by HRC and what is the MOTIVE here?
I can't think of any.
I don't think the "hack" of the DNC email servers had any impact on the outcome of this election. I think those 500,000+ Reagan-democrat-voters in Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Florida (you know the voters that actually decided this election) were going to vote for Trump no matter what. I don't doubt that there was a hack. I just can't see that is mattered. These people were very quietly and covertly going to go into the ballot box and (anonymously) vote for Trump. They did that. And wikileaks had nothing to do with that decision.
I do believe the guilty party is Russia. And I further believe that DJT will do "something" about it. I just can't figure out exactly why they would do what they did.
