I ran my wifi dilemma by Logan and he had a bright idea. Put the router in the front room where we spend 95% of our time and then put a USB wifi plug-in on the desktop in the back room and let it draw from the extender in the foyer. So what if it's slow as molasses, nobody hardly uses that ancient ass computer anyway. We went ahead and put the router in the front room and the download speed went from 5 Mbs to 240 Mbs. Now I can run internet thru the smart TV or the chromecast almost instantaneously and as you can imagine I was already immediately planning on having 10 tabs of porn open simultaneously when the time comes. I haven't gotten the wifi plug-in for the desktop computer in the back room yet, but I don't even care anymore. Jesus christ, we've been talking about this for 3 years and ya'll have let me suffer thru 5 MB download speeds thru an extender the whole time with suggestions of running 2 miles of USB cord under the house and drilling thru the floors to hook up the front room with the router in the back when all I had to do was this. Thanks a lot...

I assumed there was a reason you had the router 1 located where it was - like that was your internet drop.

Goddamn, here's another simple solution nobody mentioned. Plug directly into the network from anywhere in the house. Fuck this, I'm going to start using google instead of asking ya'll shit...

So if your router is plugged into one of those, you can plug a wifi router anywhere in the house and it's connected directly to the main router?

yes, but you have to get a Netgear duplexer kit in order for it to work

my experience with those plug in things is they all suck

that one says its specific for netgear powerline networks to boot so you have to go with all netgear stuff.

If you're anxious to spend money on something, drop $50 on this bad boy and I'm willing to bet that will solve any internet problems you have unless your house is plaster instead of drywall. I impulse bought one and then found out it had the same chip set as a $200 Asus router and works just as well. You can even hang a USB hard drive or printer from it and share it with everyone on the network.
