Re: UNLV Rebels
you're going to have to work at being scummier than this lawyer
---------------------------------
A Minnesota lawyer who has drawn scorn for his tactics in filing porn copyright lawsuits and disability litigation has been indicted alongside a longtime partner in a multimillion-fraud and extortion conspiracy that counted as its victims hundreds of people nationwide and the court system itself.
Authorities arrested Paul Hansmeier, 35, of Woodbury, and John L. Steele, 45, an attorney in Illinois who was a former classmate of Hansmeier's at the University of Minnesota Law School, shortly before U.S. Attorney Andrew Luger announced charges Friday morning. Hansmeier was arrested in the Twin Cities; Steele, who has lived off and on in Florida, was arrested in Fort Lauderdale.
They were charged Wednesday in an 18-count indictment with running a multimillion-dollar extortion fraud scheme between 2011 and 2014. The charges, unsealed Friday, include conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, conspiracy to commit and suborn perjury and conspiracy to launder money.
"In order to carry out the scheme, the defendants used sham entities to obtain copyrights to pornographic movies — some of which they filmed themselves — and then uploaded those movies to file-sharing websites in order to lure people to download the movies," the indictment says.

---------------------------------------------------
The attorney who made headlines for suing small businesses that can’t afford to fight back has filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy. Paul Hansmeier sues businesses, claiming discrimination against people with disabilities.
Disability experts believe his motive is to make money, not make businesses more accessible, as he proclaims.
Hansmeier has caused dozens of small businesses in Minnesota a legal headache, and cost them thousands of dollars.
His law firm Class Justice sues on behalf of a group of people with disabilities, claiming violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act, ADA’s Accessibility Guidelines or the Minnesota Human Rights Act. Some are valid, but experts close to the cases claim he seeks a payday through a settlement.
And WCCO has learned it’s what he did before suing for discrimination that has Hansmeier filing for Chapter 13 bankruptcy.
His former firm was part of a copyright trolling scheme that sued thousands of people for downloading online porn, and then settled for nominal amounts. Court documents show he made millions.
“The courts determined that was an abuse of the legal process,” attorney Ted Sheu, with Best & Flanagan, said.
Sheu sued Hansmeier on behalf of a “John Doe” client and won. He now represents other firms and their clients in collecting money from Hansmeier for what judges deemed to be fraud.
“For the past two years we’ve been trying to collect on the sanctions and that leads us to where we are today,” Sheu said. “He has the money somewhere. We’ve been trying to find it.”
Hansmeier owes approximately $193,000 in their cases. He filed for bankruptcy a day before he was to go before a judge to prove why he should not be held in contempt of court for violating an order to turn over financial records. And two days before he was ordered to pay sanctions totaling $65,263 in Illinois.
“The timing was clearly designed to thwart the legal process, and the collections process,” Sheu said.

I can't believe more people aren't talking about that Scientology series. Scientology is seriously fucked up

I've been watching it. I don't understand why people go for that shit but then I don't understand the allure of religion at all. Still, Scientology is just flat out goofy from the start. I guess they grab the kids and the families follow. The worst thing about it is how much of a soap opera people's lives become with all the tattling and list-making and shit.

Re: UNLV Rebels
What I don't understand is, if you're in Scientology and you're just a drone, like so many of them are, then you're earning money from the church. So, when you have to pay all this money to take these tests and move up levels, you're just paying back what you've earned. So where is the church making its real money if it's just cycling money within the organization? Are Travolta and some other stars funding most of it? I must have missed something in the series about where they make all that cash.
One other thing, Lea Remini is sort of weird looking but I would fuck the shit out of her. I never really thought she was hot or even thought about her at all. She was just a name from a TV show. But after staring at her the last few days, I would bang her repeatedly.

Re: UNLV Rebels
Leah cycled a bit. I liked her in King of Queens. She could get it then. After the show was ending (when she got pregnant), her weight ballooned and she fell off, to me. The last two years she obviously started eating right and hitting the elliptical. I'd give her a piece of the king.
I've watched some of the series, but the episodes I've seen have been interesting but nothing I didn't know already. My wife is hooked, though. She's watched every single one. When the church got tax exempt status in the early 90s, I think their revenue exploded. I bet they own a shit ton of property, too...like Jehovah Witnesses.

Re: UNLV Rebels
you're talking about the people in the sea org that work for the church, but that has to be a very small number compared to the total number of people in the congregation. They get their money from all these people attempting to move up the "bridge". In order to reach whatever level they need to just be a full fledged scientologist, it ends up costing them about $300K.Saint wrote:What I don't understand is, if you're in Scientology and you're just a drone, like so many of them are, then you're earning money from the church. I thought Remini was hot in King of Queens, plus you had this idea that she was into fat dumpy loser guys so you're like "I have a shot with her". I actually like her less after watching this series, you can tell she's kinda burned out on fame but still feels entitled to all the perks you get with it. But women that say fuck every other word are definitely cool with me. So overall, I still want to do her, I just don't want to spend a day with her afterwards.

My wife is also hooked on it, which getting her away from the Lifetime Channel is a feat.
I also agree on the Bklyn's cycle assessment on Lea Remini. Her Apex was early King of Queens.

My brother got into that shit in the early 80s. Messed him up good from what I remember. My dad flew out there and dragged his ass out and brought him home. Sorta like one of those kidnapping/brain washing things they did back then.

When you say kidnapping/brain washing, are you talking about the Scientologists or your dad abducting your brother?

I'd say the describes the vast majority of the female population for most men. Certainly the last part...

Re: UNLV Rebels
Just helping people that are new to the craft....
nvestigators are looking into product reviews posted on Amazon, likely posted by an alleged serial killer. Todd Kohlhepp — suspected of responsibility for as many as seven deaths, as well as keeping one woman chained in a metal shed for two months — is believed to have also authored more than 100 Amazon reviews for tools such as “padlocks, tactical gear, targets, knives and gun accessories,” according to the Greenville News.
The reviews are creepy in tone and form (the author’s pen name, “me,” was linked to a wish list bearing Kohlhepp’s name). Writing of a padlock, the customer says:
solid locks.. have 5 on a shipping container.. wont stop them.. but sure will slow them down til they are too old to care. [sic]
Another review for locks compares whatever they are affixed to to Hotel California, the setting from the Eagles song of the same name (“You can check out any time you like / but you can never leave”).
For a folding shovel:
keep in car for when you have to hide the bodies and you left the full size shovel at home…. does not come with a midget, which would have been nice.
Police said they are following up on the possible link, but that the Amazon reviews are of secondary importance to the investigation.
