I grew up in a methodist church, pretty hard core christian values. I was even the church pianist for like 3 years (I know you guys will run with that admission)

My childhood friend and I had to sit thru all these people who felt that singing in church was the best way to praise god and these people were some godawful singers.

I can remember one woman in particular who got up there and was swinging the microphone around like she was David Lee Roth and then commenced to caterwauling like her hair was on fire.

Her husband must have told her she was good, because she decided to do it again a few weeks later. The second time she got up there, some old dude two rows up from us who was about half deaf anyways didn't realize he was being so loud and when she picked up this microphone you could hear him say "awww naw..not this again".

We've laughed about that for years so now ever so often he sends me youtube videos of bad church singers

my mom later converted to tongue speaking pentecostal and that's about the time I went atheist. I'm not sure if I believe in god or not but I believe I never want to hear that woman again.

I just had lunch with my son and I was telling him about this new group I like called Run The Jewels.

I see them as "sophisticated" rapppers
