Haven't you ever heard of the Black Irish?

“The first time you blow someone away is not an insignificant event. That said, there are some assholes in the world that just need to be shot.”

“I come in peace. I didn’t bring artillery. But I’m pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: If you fuck with me, I’ll kill you all.”

“Find the enemy that wants to end this experiment (in American democracy) and kill every one of them until they’re so sick of the killing that they leave us and our freedoms intact.”

“Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet.”

“You go into Afghanistan, you got guys who slap women around for five years because they didn’t wear a veil. You know, guys like that ain’t got no manhood left anyway. So it’s a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them. Actually it’s quite fun to fight them, you know. It’s a hell of a hoot. It’s fun to shoot some people. I’ll be right up there with you. I like brawling.”

“I’m going to plead with you, do not cross us. Because if you do, the survivors will write about what we do here for 10,000 years.”

--General James "Mad Dog" Mattis, Secretary of Defense nominee

I have always been amazed how, when black people describe other people, they always say he/she is "light skinned" or "dark skinned" first, and then say tall or short, skinny or fat, etc. There are even general stereotypes about "light skins" and "dark skins." Is that widespread or just an ATL thing?
Sadly, it's not just an African-American practice, but is universal from the time of european colonialism. Color gradation ("colorism") was a tool of division and control of a population that was significantly larger than the european conquerors. Controlled populations were conditioned that lighter skin was "better" and implied superior quality.

It's really sad outside of the USA - especially in Central/South America and on the Indian sub-continent. I think I posted an article here about how Miss America 2014 (of East Indian descent) came under fire - in INDIA - for being "too dark-skinned!"

Although “the crowning of first Indian-American Miss America Nina Davuluri may have highlighted some American xenophobia, comparing her to Indian pageant winners has others discussing Indian prejudices. “What’s interesting is Miss America Nina Davuluri would never win pageants in South Asia because she’d be too dark to be considered beautiful,”journalist Anna John tweeted. Davuluri looks “too ‘Indian’ to ever be Miss India,” Lakshmi Chaudhry wrote in First Post.
I have a Mexican American friend (former co-worker) in her 60s who is roughly the same complexion as the above pictured Miss America. She uses TONS of powders and skin-lightening make up to appear whiter ("Mexicans are white" is one of her stock lines). I haven't the heart to tell her that even if she immersed her self in white paint, the first thing an Anglo would say when they see her is "she's Mexican."
During a press conference later, O'Mara was asked if he had any advice for Zimmerman, and he answered, "Pay me."

I've been amazed that the general assumption among blacks is that the light skin blacks are smarter than the dark skin ones. They say you can't get into Morehouse unless you pass the paper bag test - have lighter skin than a paper bag. I've seen the so-called "dark skinned blacks" get angry at that characterization and call the light skins "our beige half-brother."

I just didn't know whether that was a Southern or even an Atlanta thing. The history you gave makes a lot of sense, although it is astounding that the practice is still alive and well and now self-perpetuated. You learn something new every day.

So Amazon is going to do away with cashiers entirely in their future grocery stores. None of that piecemeal stuff, like self-checkout lanes alongside cashier-staffed lanes....you pick up an item and it automatically hits your account, and you leave. Grab and go groceries - others will likely follow suit.

Another great homegrown innovation, and there's countless more in the pipeline. Making America great again, again, and again..with ingenuity.

And what does Scalia's seat have to do with you finding out you're a dumbass Mick?

Tell you what, toe - guess how many donuts I've got in this bag and I'll give you both of them.

It doesn't - just get on the train to the gulag and keep your mouth shut, comrade.

"Comrade" and "gulags" and forcing people with opposing views to "keep their mouth shut" are all leftist inventions. They are still in vogue in leftist paradises like North Korea and Cuba and the Ivy League.

Putin's style is more along the lines of polonium sandwiches fed to whistle-blowers, mysterious murders of dissidents committed right in the middle of Red Square or kangaroo courts sending uncooperative billionaires to prison. "Godfather" type stuff.

Probably all that fake news stuff
Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is, I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.
