That's probably what the conservative Protestant posters are saying. May Sardis have mercy on my soul.

"At judgement day, Jesus said we will be judged by how we treated the poor, sick, lonely, imprisoned ("the least of these my brethren"), not by having perfect theology. "

If you really believe in Jesus's teachings, how could you pretend to have a perfect theology or anything even remotely close to it if you didn't practice loving treatment of the poor, sick, lonely, etc?

Exactly. That's whole point of the parable.

Some loopy Episcopalian who believes in gay marriage and trannies in womens' bathrooms, but faithfully volunteers at a soup kitchen and visits the elderly in nursing homes as a service to Christ may get to heaven before I do. I'm counting on the "visiting prisoners" clause as my ace in the hole.

I guess neither of the two thieves on the crosses next to Jesus' we're going to Paradise because they didn't rack up enough good works...

Again, no one is disputing that Jesus wanted us to help the poor, orphans, etc., but to throw the acceptance of homosexuality and Islam with that is just a recent social acceptance interpretation that flies in the face of Jesus'teachings on marriage, false religions, etc.

Prof, I was working in Greenville today. You should have said something, We could have lunch or drinks.

Yes, the bible is clear: we must kill the gays. Also, we need to kill the people who work on Sunday, women who aren't virgins on their wedding night, and kids disobeying their parents. Kill, kill, kill them all...so that they can burn in the eternal lake of fire.

And, always remember, God is love.

1. It was only one thief on the cross that entered paradise.
2. I agree with you about gay marriage and all that. But Jesus didn't ask people on Judgement Day whether they had correct biblical beliefs about sexuality. He didn't tell the rich man that he was in hell because he believed buggery was okay. They made it, or didn't based on how they treated the needy. That's what it says.
3. Thanks for the offer. Maybe next time we can grab a couple of beers to go and you can show me around campus.

PS: I had always heard that the tops of the big fence around BJU pointed in. I saw that is not true.

" It was only one thief on the cross that entered paradise."

Isn't there some passage about Jesus coming like a thief in the night?

One of my favorite bible stories is how a guy was screwing his brother's wife (Onan?) and god killed him - not because he screwed her, but because he pulled out. That and the one about how god sent bears to devour or maul children because they called a guy "bald". You just can't beat those two stories.

God is love.

(And, with that, I will stop poking the religious with sticks now).

During a press conference later, O'Mara was asked if he had any advice for Zimmerman, and he answered, "Pay me."

I see AA is chumming the waters on this thread.

AA loves that bald guy story. It got traction the first dozen times he posted it, but now it's right up there with "P,YAAM," G,BIIT," "MPNCAA," hedge's " I wish you were ______" and Rat's "My pee smells like ham."
