Hillary and Trump are both bad for the country. So I can mock both of them. That's why I voted for Johnson.

But if you want, I can get an early start on mocking Trump. I don't trust him with the nuclear codes. Right now he's tight with Putin, but Putin is nobody's friend. I can easily imagine him insulting Trump's small hands, and the thin-skinned Trump shooting down a MiG in retaliation. Then Putin invades the Baltics and we are in a Cuban Missile Crisis v. 2.0.

Or I can see the Chinese shooting down a spy plane near the Spratley Islands, and Trump lobs a cruise missile in retaliation. We wind up in a trade war with the Chinese, where they start dumping trillions of our t-bills on the world market, starting a Depression. Or they invade Taiwan.

Trump's temperament, inexperience and megalomania are dangerous.

Trump has made a lot of Messianic promises. All the things he promised last night reminded me of Obama's acceptance speech when he said he was going to lower the sea levels.

Trump has committed to a lot of things, but he is going to be dismayed how few of them he will be able to accomplish. He won't be able to do something as simple as firing a single federal employee. That will be a rude shock for an autocratic businessman.

His deportation of 11 million illegals? Good luck with that. Ain't going to happen. Dead on arrival.

His banning of Muslims entering America? Even Scalia (Peace be upon him) would have, and Thomas will, laugh that one out of SCOTUS. It's patently absurd and grotesquely unconstitutional.

Repeal Obamacare? Maybe, but what are you going to replace it with? He has no idea.

Republicans (that is, what was once the Republican Party) has proven itself better at back-seat driving than governing for the past 20 years. Will Trump break that pattern? We'll see.

Go ahead and laugh but there are lots of folks out there who are voting Trump, but don't want to be harassed so they don't talk about it. I didn't put Trump sticker on wife's car for that very reason and I'm in East TN.

I wasn't worried about harassing as in arguing. I was worried about some unhinged snowflake busting back window to get the bumper sticker when I was parked at a bar post election. I've had it in my window since April, but post election made it real for some jackasses who might do that. I know other people who didn't put anything on their cars for that reason.

True, but maybe some civil service laws can be changed. I get not wanting changing admins to just up and fire to replace with their own, but the pendulum is so far the other it's absurd.

Does nobody understand a negotiating tactic? You ask for more than you want to end up where you wanted to be. Criminal aliens should be deported or jailed. That 10 yr old girl found in a well would still be alive if the cocksucker had been jailed or deported in 2014 instead of released. That is on Obama. But you do understand the LAW says illegals should be deported right? Illegal immigration increases supply of labor and drives wages down hurting US citizens jobs and wages. When is the last time you saw a construction crew, roofers, or landscaping that wasn't almost entirely hispanic? Understand I don't fault the illegal immigrant. I'd do the same thing in their shoes, but that doesn't make it right or good for US citizens.

If Trump is elected president and follows through with an immigration ban on Muslims (or any other group of people, for that matter), he can do so by asserting powers under the United States Code and the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952, which is the nation’s main immigration act.

Under Title 8, Section 1182 of the U.S. Code, the president has authority to use a proclamation to suspend the entry of “any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States [who] would be detrimental to the interests of the United States,” for however long he deems necessary. This provision was included in the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952.

One thing Trump CAN do immediately, and should do, is revoke the absurd regulations Obama enacted during his tenure (and some under W's).

Start with the coal mining regulations that were specifically designed to destroy an entire industry and put thousands of miners out of work. Let California have full access to their own water, which they need badly. From now on, people are more important than two inch fish. Approve the Keystone pipeline on Day One. Let the world know that the days of forcing the American taxpayer to pay tithes to the Global Warming Religion are over.

That is a shame. Democrats used to champion such people like factory workers, truck drivers, waitresses, miners, etc: Now the compassionate, tolerant, pluralist, diverse, and inclusive left just sneers at them.

Turns out, that conversation was a microcosm of the whole election. Those "non-college educated white male baby boomers," whose very existence JD finds so offensive that he just assumed that Republicans should be bothered by them too, and who Tick called "just want a GED and a job like dear old dad's" and "easily duped" and who "frown on pinhead educators and fancy degrees" and "deny climate science and rejects green energy in all it's forms," just gave WI, PA and MI to Trump and made him President. Let that sink in.

Whoever convinced you Democrats to speak of your former base with such hostility and contempt, I would quit listening to them if I were you. And if you continue to follow the 50 year old continuous loop of calling them "racist sexist homophobic blah blah blah," just realize that they don't like that, and they will continue to not vote for you.

Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has to worry about a steep drop-off of the black vote that could imperil her chances of winning the White House in November, an analysis had found.

There will be record black turnout in November, especially if the GOP nominates Trump or Cruz.

Kasich is a curious case, 8 years ago, he was viewed as a hard right winger. Now, he's at the same place but the GOP has moved so far right that he's now considered a moderate. Kasich, however, pulled 30% of the Black vote in his reelection in Ohio. I don't know how that would translate nationally, but if a GOP candidate could pull 18%-20% of the Black vote, the nature of the election changes greatly.

Of more concern to the GOP should be the Latino vote. If that continues as a 70% Democratic base, by 2024 the Democrats will own the ouse, Senate and 40 State legislatures.

While they chose Clinton over Trump by a wide margin, black voter turnout failed to reach the same record-setting level as it did for Obama in 2008 and 2012, analysts say.

Combined with Trump's overperformance among white ex-urban and rural voters, and disillusioned African Americans choosing a third-party candidate or sitting out the election, Clinton's inability to reach Obama-level numbers cost her dearly in swing states with significant black populations, like North Carolina and Pennsylvania.

"Blacks made up 13 percent of the electorate in 2012, about on par with what their population numbers are," says Andra Gillespie, a political scientist at Emory University. "But they only made up 12 percent of the electorate this time," a relatively small but significant drop in numbers.

She also didn't capture as much of the black vote as Obama had. "She had 88 percent of the black vote, but that would put you in the general ballpark of John Kerry," the Democrats' 2004 presidential nominee, Gillespie says.
