I ran into Peter Edward Rose Sr. in Vegas about 3 years ago. He was signing books and memorabilia at the MGM Grand and looked like crap. Worse, it seemed like (for the 5 minutes I was in his area) people were avoiding him. He gave off an EXTREMELY cheesy vibe.

Of course, after looking it up, I see on his website that apparently selling memorabilia there is his gig http://www.peterose.com/calendar/ and he still makes a good buck doing it

What people keep buying is not just the autograph, but also the experience of getting it. Plenty of ballplayers can engage with the fan base, but nobody does it better or embraces it more than Rose does. Pete is extremely good at being Pete. You sit with him for five minutes during an autograph session. He’ll banter cornily (“Your name is Bob? Mind if I spell it backward?”) and crassly (“The whole time your wife was taking that photo with me, she had her hand on my ass”). He will give batting tips to kids (essentially, “Be aggressive”) and recall old at-bats with astounding clarity and detail. He’ll break off an anecdote about Willie Mays in a urinal, and he might, without warning or provocation, hold forth on the subject of blow jobs. However all this may sound to you, many customers clearly view it as value added. I have seen people wait to get their ball signed, spend the time with Rose, then get back in the queue and do it again.

When Pete Rose went to prison, a staff member stole his prison ID card and sold it on eBay. That staff member got in big trouble.

Trump just cannot help himself. What is kicking his butt post-debate is not his incoherent performance, IMO, but his attack on Alicia Machado.

fivethirtyeight.com has flipped Florida, Nevada and Colorado from Trump to Clinton in the past three days. All three states had Trump doing awful with Latinos before the flap, but now he's doing epically horrible.

And if 53 years of life has shown me anything, it's do not ever - EVER - use the word "fat" around women. Every women I know, whether she weighs 90 lbs. or 900 lbs., has fear and loathing of that word.

Why the focus on something Trump said 20 years ago and not on any of misdeeds of the PAH?

I could do better financially and work less if I would just take someone up on the offer of employment.

I can't do that. I didn't go through what I did to have a boss.

So why is it that they can do that? Well they can have an army of scribes and compliance people, computer folks etc. I have to do it all myself to stay up on it. It's just me, my office manager, scheduler, front desk girl and a medical assistant to put people back in rooms. All that computer crap I have to do LOL.

But the hospitals can pay doctors more for less because of a special law that allows them to charge a facility fee for office visits by their employed physicians. So the office visit may generate 60 bucks but they can charge a 300 dollar facility fee that a private practice doc can not do.

That's how they do it. They hire the doc and then get what they bill, plus they add the facility fees so they can pay the doc more than they could make alone due to the volume of work now required for that 60 dollar visit.

As for now I am content doing private practice, haven't been at it long enough to want to retire, but the offer sounds nice. Is it the VA?

"I could do better financially and work less if I would just take someone up on the offer of employment."

From what you've told us, you could do better financially as a fry cook at McDonalds. Considering your eating habits, though, that would make a significant cut in french fry profit margins for that location...
