How did Roy Clark, one of truly great country guitar pickers, let himself be drug into that clownishness? The hamboner liked to of slap his tit slap off. As for the other guy, there are no words...

It's like he's slapping Roy on the ass in that one in the doctor's office. That eefin' and aahin' is probably the sound Roy makes when the hambone guy is slapping his nuts in the dressing room.

I've been out in the workshop all day. That little window unit is struggling to keep up

I spent all day outside Saturday at Cub Scout camp (Thurs. & Fri. too but it wasn't as hot). Granted, we tried to stay in the shade as much as possible but I began to realize how much I used to live in heat. I worked outside until college (except 2 summers in the tobacco warehouse which was as hot inside when they started closing the doors). I lived in a house after college with no AC and we just ran fans everywhere. Growing up, we didn't have central AC and my dad would turn off the giant window unit in the living room at night and there was a fan in the window in my room that pulled out the air. I slept every night with that big-ass metal fan roaring and at some point, one of my parents would come in and turn it down.

I'm thinking I may try to disable the central downstairs unit and tell my wife and kid that we're just going to have to get by with fans the rest of the summer.

my dad installed some industrial sized fan in our house - I"m talking mounted on the *outside* of the house in the middle bedroom. That fan would pull so much air you couldn't close doors. It made a helluva racket but it just became white noise at some point.

We didn't break out the Fedders two man A/C unit until late July or August. We had maybe 3 weeks of A/C during the year.

I don't know what the fuck you did back before fans. I guess you slept in a cave during the summer.

strangely enough, its my wife that can't sleep without a fan noise in the background.

Our house had a huge ceiling fan mounted in the attic (still does), you open a few windows and flip that think on and there's a strong breeze everywhere in the house. It's nice in the spring and fall and I guess better than nothing in the dog days of summer...

I've been wanting to do that with my house but I'd have to cut the hole in the bedroom ceiling and the wife doesn't want any part of that.

You wouldn't want the one like I'm talking about in your bedroom. It's liable to suck you and the wife up to the ceiling if it's directly over your bed...
