In my church, we have an ancient and revered form of communism. It's called monasticism.

It's also 100% voluntary.

Really? I guess you're not familiar with the old Jesuit boast " Give me the child for his first seven years, and I'll give you the man"...

7 year olds don't decide anything.

So you think 7 year olds should get to pick where they go to school? I believe you have children. Who made the decision where they went to school?

If you decided to send them to a pacifist tattoo-giving vegan atheist testosterone-free pot-smoking, buggery-loving, NPR-listening environmentalist wacko school, that's your right as a parent. If a Catholic parent decides to send their kids to a Jesuit school, that's their right as a parent. Either way, the kid doesn't decide. This really isn't all that complicated.

It doesn't have anything to do with a child's participation in the decision making about his upbringing, it's a tacit admission that the level of brainwashing that is foisted upon them in a strict religious setting will almost certainly produce the desired results. I doubt you would disagree if I had said "radical muslim boast" instead of "Jesuit boast"...

Then it's time to ban Christian schools! That's the enlightened, progressive, tolerant, pluralistic and inclusive thing to do.

Muslim schools must be left alone. You don't want to be accused of Islamophobia.

While I'm not in favor of an outright banning of these schools, I do hope that people begin to acknowledge more openly that indoctrination in religion is a form of child abuse and subsequently phase out religious education.

How enlightened, progressive, tolerant, pluralistic and inclusive of you. Your intellectual forbear, Josef Stalin, did exactly what you are advocating and for the same reason. We need such enlightened policies here because, after all, America was founded on the principle of the federal government suppressing the free practice of religion.

Liberals just can't tolerate anything that disagree with them, ESPECIALLY if it competes with the Almighty State for peoples' allegiance.

Right on cue: California is debating a bill that would let students at religious universities sue those universities for simply teaching what they believe.

http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-pol- ... story.html

If this latest Orwellian assault on the first amendment passes, Christian students should sue California colleges that have "Feminist Studies" or "African American Studies" or "LGBT Studies" since what those departments teach make them "feel uncomfortable."

"We need such enlightened policies here because, after all, America was founded on the principle of the federal government suppressing the free practice of religion."

Lame sarcasm noted, but you obviously didn't read the first few words of Cletus's post, prompting your characteristically hysterical and paranoid "response" that doesn't address what was said at all, but merely furthers the private conversation (or whatever you want to call it) you seem to enjoy having with yourself in here...

LMAO! My alma mater, Dallas Theological Seminary, also might have to update their eschatological charts if the EU collapses. Chick publications too. There might be a couple of new dispensations on the horizon. Pre-, Post-, or Mid- Brexit?

What is the official dispensational algorithm of BJU?

Dallas Theological Seminary? That sounds about as legit as the Hollywood Upstairs Medical College.

Heh. DTS is the flagship of evangelicalist/fundamentalist scholarship sir! (Their New Testament Greek program is actually first rate. The rest, not so much...)

When I became Eastern Orthodox, they had a funeral for me. But after 20+ years, they still send me their magazine and fund-raising letters.
