Dukies. Dukies don't win championships. Cleveland played better last year with an injured Kyrie after Game 1. Why? Because Dukies don't win chips.

From IC:

Dan Issel throws Roy under the bus

ICYM, Dan Issel explaining why Nuggets drafted Raef LaFrentz instead of Paul Pierce. Bad info from Roy Williams. https://t.co/IeSERSGawv

Fun fact about Dan Issel....
"His tenure ended on a rather sour note in December 2001. On December 11, after a close loss to the Charlotte Hornets, Issel heard a fan taunting him as he walked off the court at the Pepsi Center. Issel taunted back, "Go drink another beer, you Mexican piece of ****."[4] The incident was captured on Denver's NBC affiliate, KUSA-TV. Issel was suspended four games by the team. Issel publicly apologized the next day, and on Friday met with Hispanic chamber representatives, who accepted his apology.[5] However, several members of Denver's Hispanic community thought the suspension was insufficient punishment, and called for him to be fired. Hours before he was due to return, Issel took a leave of absence to decide whether he wanted to return. Issel decided to resign on December 26."

"He did play for Adolph Rupp; just following coaches lead."

"He has also apparently gone bankrupt and had to sell much of his memorabilia. Seems pretty sad all these years after the fact to try and blame others for a draft choice you made. You want to blame Roy for your choice to use the 3rd overall pick on Lafrentz instead of Paul Pierce? Ok.... so who are you going to blame for not using that pick on Dirk Nowitski, Vince Carter, or Antawn Jamison? Bet he has a scapegoat or excuse for passing on those players too."

Dan Issel was a great college player. Outside of that I don't have much use for him

didn't we have someone here that talked about this guy incessantly at one time?

------------------------------------------------------------------------

I want to say something about my friend George Lapides, an iconic sports writer and radio personality in Memphis. George is someone I could always get an honest answer from. He’s been someone who would always tell me the truth even if it hurt. He’s someone I’ve grown to love. I want to send my thoughts and prayers to George and his family at this tough time. I’m thinking about you, my friend.

Wasn't one of them Big Chewy? Or something like that?

The other was like El Commodoro, maybe?

I can't believe I remember that...

Lapides is in horrible health. He was given 2 years around 5 years ago. he recently (finally) gave up his morning radio show, and the very next day his health took a turn for the worse. He's short-timing.

good game last night--until the 4th quarter

how the hell klay thompson didn't get 40 after the first half who knows

I think it would have been first time ever 3 players in the 40's for the finals

It's a long season, and the playoffs drag on forever too - no doubt it's a grind. That's got to be why there's so much uneven effort on display out there. The 1st half was as good as the game gets, though - regardless who you like.

Kyrie consistently shows up for the less meaningful of meaningful games. He did the same thing in Game 3, when Cleveland really needed Game 2. He did it in Game 5, when Cleveland really needed Game 4.

Kyrie will have 8 - 12 points in Game 6 and Draymond gets to be on the floor for the trophy...and Coach K's streak of having no players from his teams contribute meaningfully to an NBA championship will continue on.

It was the first time for two players on the same team in the 40's...

Lebron needs to keep taking it to the rim like last night. He also needs to post up more. The games Cleveland loses is when he tries to be a perimeter player. No one on Golden State can stop him down low.

I would hardly call 4-8 the game of his life from behind the arc. If he had just missed one of those he would've been shooting at his career average from behind the arc...
