My son faces the #1 rated HS Sophomore prospect in the nation tonight. A hard-throwing righty with regular velo in the low 90s. It's an away game but I'm hoping to be able to watch.

UVa keeps sending him camp invitations but it's too damn far to make it to one of their camps, and the way my son has slacked off in the classroom this year there's no way they'd take him.

The #1 Sophomore kid ended up pitching last night instead of Friday night. My son went 2-3 with a walk, single, stand-up triple, SB, 2RBI and a run scored in a 6-5 loss. Fortunately since it was a Monday and not a Friday, there were some college scouts watching.

Seen this piece on conference realignment? Could mean interesting things for the Noles, especially if we somehow end up in the SEC.

Truth is, you need some bottom feeders. If everyone in the conference is well above average at football you'll end up with even more "bad losses". Even if the conference champion goes 11-1 (how many undefeated season has the almighty Bama had under Saban?), that one loss might now be to a 4, 5, or 6 loss team. And the chances of even going 11-1 goes down dramatically, the odds are that your league champ has 2+ losses and potentially gets shut out of the playoffs.

KY at least contributes in basketball. The ACC has Wake Forest, who used to have a Top 20 type of basketball team, a Top 30 baseball team, and a football team that was very good every 2-4 years. Now they contribute nothing to any of the bigger sports - at all. Boston College seems to be content to follow them to the basement, and as long as the checks keep rolling in it might not change.

If the SEC wanted to bring in FSU or Clemson, it would make more sense to shuffle out someone like Arkansas who seems to cause more negative than positive (just good enough to beat LSU every year but not good enough to be a power team) or South Carolina (who had some great baseball teams but overall mediocrity is the theme).

Rooting for the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers today. My son was not interested in them (though they've contacted him several times) because they're not ACC/SEC but since ACC/SEC isn't showing much interest, he's now intrigued by these smaller schools with proven coaches.
