Did anything happen with Spacer or did he just fade away? I recall him talking about some fambly issues awhile back, but couldn't remember if he gave an official farewell or just kinda quit posting...

I'm not sure - I can't help but think I started making this place less fun for him - we'd go at it over Obamacare and I think he started seeing me more as a stereotypical Tea Party rep than the enlightened and highly cultured person you all have come to know over the years.hedge wrote:Did anything happen with Spacer or did he just fade away? I valued his input though. Intelligent conversation is hard to score on the internet.
I do know he had his hands full with some family health issues though.
I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
I don't think any issue Spacer has with his silence on this forum has to do with you, e. I hate to be too presumptuous, but I think I'm pretty in tune with Spacer's general thoughts about people. You're not someone he had any issues with. You guys mildly battled, but he is a trained attorney and physician. He is used to debate. Simply going to law school means you're slightly crazy about debate. The back and forth with you is nothing. Now, there are a few that I'm sure he would have little interest in hearing from on here...but even those people don't post in the same way they used to here.
I think he had some family things, specifically his mom, that took a lot of his time. Also, sometimes people just need a break. I took a 3 mos LOA from here just to work on some things with my brother's estate and with work. I think he'll show back up from time to time.

Nah, he is a university professor now, I believe. I think his law degree is just that...a degree. I don't believe he has ever practiced. I am pretty sure he had a medical practice, though (and I think he ran it with his BIL or brother, or something like that). I'm not sure if he still does.
I don't know if he ever worked for the government.

Crow was one of 5 people in the world who could do his job...

I could never remember if Spacer was a lawyer-turned-doctor or vice versa. All I know is that he likes to drink white wine at MLB games and has some tendencies towards Rice.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
I have some bad news for you. In fact, this is the annivesary of what happened. Here's the story:
I spent my formative years on the subcontinent, as my father was a major in the British Army and stationed in India during the Second Opium War. Once, while he was away on campaign, I was tasked to eliminate a streak of rogue tigers who had been killing the villagers in a place called Bharatpur. My houseboy, Spacer, was my faithful servant on this expedition. The journey was a hard day's travel and we made a hasty camp to get some rest. But before I could finish my tea, a village woman named Culay ran in and shouted that tigers were attacking. We quickly followed and after killing three of the beasts, I set my sights on the fourth -and last- but unfortunately my gun jammed. Thinking and moving on instinct, I drew my knife and leapt on the back of the behemoth. My blade found his carotid, and dealt a mortal blow, but not before the tiger had mauled poor Spacer. As the tiger fell, I rushed to my servant's side and surmised that his wounds would likely prove fatal.
Nonetheless, I thus began a frantic search for help when I happened upon Sgt. Gunny McDonald, a deserter from the Scottish regiment that had been under my father's command. Gunny thought I was a part of a team to bring him back, so he attacked, but I kept my wits about me and killed him with a Kimura Lock.
Afterwards, I rifled through the dead sergeant's supplies to find something -anything- that would help abate Spacer's pain, and found a bottle of Drambuie among Gunny's things. I ran back to my camp faster than I had ever ran before, but upon arrival I found that Spacer had died while I was gone. Grief-stricken, I sat down and drank the whole bottle before making my way back to the base.
Now, every February 9th, I toast a glass of Drambuie to the memory of Spacer. As god is my witness....

I don't know what saddens me more--the death of spacer or my search for the true author of these quotes from kipling to gunny McDonald yielding nada. Perhaps there is more to AA then meets the eye. perhaps spacer is not a distant memory to be celebrated every 2/9 but perhaps the fictional mind of AA created this world for his own and yes our own amusement. Perhaps spacer will never be heard from again to join the likes of bon jovi as distant memories to be reflected on as we pass our final months before we too join them

That's not Kipling. I wrote that. Kipling was a hack.

Me or you? If you, no doubt. But to be fair, you don't really have old material, either. If me, nooooo. It's a classic. Like Miracle on 34th at Christmas.

I don't need material
spur of the moment observations found entertaining by most--over the head of some
you on the other hand while on your game for most of the last 10 years now have to recycle old cliche ridden observations tolerated by the young here like an old man trying to spin a yarn heard time after time week after week year after year
