Well, I guess I should've said what they stand for to me. I doubt they stood for much other than cashing in on tepid pop ballads. Not that there's anything wrong with that, that's pretty much true of most successful popular bands of almost any genre...

I tend to agree, up to a point. For example, the Kardashians and Paris Hilton fill a niche and have become hugely successful, but I find it hard to respect them or the niche they are filling (and in fact, I'm actually somewhat contemptuous of that niche). I don't quite put the Eagles in that category, but it's close. Of course, $2 and my contempt for any given niche will get you a grande at Starbuck's, so take it for what it's worth...

No doubt (and possibly worse), although I at least give Bowie points for going in different directions (multiple times), even if I didn't really care for the direction he was going in at a given moment. With the Eagles, you always knew what you were going to get, and that it would would be the same old pablum. But hey, they made millions and did a ton of drugs and sleep with thousands of groupies, so kudos to them...

Eagles message board blows up after the Will Ferrell Glenn Frye skit. The director of the parody was Adam McKay, who went on to direct Anchorman, which the posters on the Eagles message board predicted would be an abject failure. Good stuff...

I watched the Eagles bio thing. It's very clear they were all jackasses, particularly Henley (who bore a resemblance to Bob Ross in the mid-70s). Well, maybe not Joe Walsh, who was too much of a buffoon to be a jackass, or the pansy original bass player who quit because they made him sing the high part of that one song.
