OU-KU was as good as it gets in early January. I didn't start watching until the 2nd OT. Wasn't worth it until then.

Sat behind the Carolina bench - very impressed with Johnson - if he plays like that UNC will be tough to beat.
Hard to imagine a Carolina fan would be bitching about officiating.

The game thread on IC last night was split about 50/50 b/w praise for Johnson and bitching about the refs...

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
this UK team just isn't enjoyable to watch
I can take losing. But Poythress and Murray have the ability to score at will - and they just go thru the motions half the time they are out there

I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
nah, we just don't have a team that is top 20 this year
It happens. When your backup point guard shoots 38% at the free throw line, you have problems

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
Seth Greenberg weighs in on UK's lackluster performance...
“I have a lot of concerns for this Kentucky team,” Greenberg told Kevin Negandhi during ESPN’s postgame coverage last night. “They don’t compete, they don’t play hard, and the guys (Calipari) brings in to make shots, they don’t defend. And that’s a definite concern.”
Kentucky won’t get stops if it doesn’t compete on defense, and a big part of the problem is defending ball screens. Greenberg said, “They melt on screens, they don’t fight through screens; they’re not alert off the basketball so they can’t help the helper or help each other fight through screens.”
Greenberg also sees problems offensively with UK’s lack of shooters on that end. Outside of Tyler Ulis and Jamal Murray, no one is capable of shooting the ball and the entire team seems to only be going through the motions.
“Offensively, they ran offense to run offense,” he said. “They ran through their sets, but they didn’t run offense with any purpose whatsoever, trying to score.”
Opponents have figured that out, and with only two shooters on the team, the strategy is simple: deny Ulis and Murray, and pack the lane for everyone else.
“They have some issues they need to address.”
Points in the paint: LSU 44, UK 24
Marcus Lee: 0-2, 0 points, 2 rebounds, 3 turnovers, 5 fouls, 5 minutes
Alex Poythress: 2-3, 4 points, 4 rebounds, 3 turnovers, 5 fouls, 26 minutes
Skal Labissiere: 1-3, 3 points, 2 rebounds, 1 turnover, 2 fouls, 16 minutes

You guys pinched Simmons all game and still got smacked. Yeah, UK will struggle this year. Ulis is nice, though.
The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
Hard to imagine all them McDonald's All-American 5 star blue chippers don't want to play as a team. Really surprised that they are out for their own interests. They will come together in March, I'm sure of it.
Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is, I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.
