The events in Paris just prove the need for more gun control. Yes, France already has extremely stringent laws against privately owned firearms. But if the French just pass even more gun control laws, making it really really really illegal for terrorists to have guns, that will put a stop to to any future mass murders.

I can't understand why Hollande would believe his intelligence services in saying it was ISIS and not following your sage intelligence analysis or that gold standard of intelligence knowledge, theroot.com, who say it was Al Qaida.

As we all come to grips with what happened in Paris, we must all remember this: If the French capture some of the terrorists alive, we must NOT make them uncomfortable. Yes, they may be able to tell us all kinds of things about the attack, and know about future attacks. And yes, getting them to talk about what they know might save countless innocent lives. But we must never, ever, under any circumstances, pour water on their faces to get them to talk. That would be an unspeakable evil far greater than anything the Paris terrorists did.

And by the way, the Paris attacks are just one more reason to close Gitmo. The kind of people that behead children and sell Christian women into sexual slavery wouldn't do such things if we didn't commit even worse war crimes by making Gitmo detainees suffer the horrors of wearing jumpsuits, eating three halal meals a day, working out in the exercise room, enjoying air conditioning, watching Al Jazeera on sattelite dish, etc..
