Damn, I thought you were going to say you were going to put the dog down. I was thinking that's a bit harsh, esp. b/c of some fucking dumbass who sticks his hand thru the fence with a barking dog in it. That's just asking for it...

no I won't put him down - although if he were to ever attack versus be provoked I would have to or find some farm in the middle of nowhere for him.

At any rate, I consider this a good thing - I've heard more of the story since I posted last night - the neighbor knew the dog would bite him and was trying to get him to stop or be friendly, so he kept sticking his hand into the dogs mouth. It was the second bite that drew blood.

But my concern is that other people saw it and now people know that I have a dog capable of biting someone - and because of that, I can't take the chance some school kid (we've already stopped letting him out in the yard when the bus lets kids off because they started fucking with him) or any kid for that matter sticking his hand thru the fence now and the dog is conditioned to bite it. That's what bothers me most - this dumbass is teaching my dog to bite.

So I'm taking a section of my yard - an area about 30 foot by 15 foot and making a pen that the back door feeds into.

It may be overkill but its the responsible thing to do. I know if a dog bit my kid, I won't be interested in the details of who did what - I only know that I'll be mad as hell at the people that own the dog.

If I had stuck my hand inside a fence and gotten bit, my dad would've asked me why I was such a dumbass and probably would've called the neighbor who owned the dog and apologized. I know we're living in different times now, but damn. It would be like blaming the neighbor if your kid was over at their house and put their hand on a hot stove...

yea I know what you are saying. I know all too well the results of sticking your hand in a dogs mouth

but still - I live in the suburbs with little kids running around all day long.

I can't knowingly let my dog (who actually is a very loving dog once I greet you at the door) come near them.

I know you are a responsible homeowner and neighbor, I'm just saying that you've already done your due diligence by putting up a fence. But I also know you love a project, so the dog run will probably be a success on many levels, for both you and the dog...

Kind of funny that after you've been bitten, your dog bites someone else. There is balance in the universe.

Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is, I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.

so my wife gets a new job - a $26K a year job at a school down the road. Good for her, a great working environment, etc

She gets her first paycheck and they have her in a different job category making $52K a year. Her paycheck was double what it was supposed to be.

Of course part of her is hoping that is her real salary but I told her to sit aside half because if she don't go to them, they're going to come to her.

Agreed. From a taxes standpoint it's a mess. And they will take the money back.

sons and daughters

my son turns 16, says he doesn't want the CRV we were going to give him because its a 5 speed, its sits high up , etc and he wants a japanese sedan with an automatic. He decides a Mitsubishi Galant is a good car - not my first choice but there are reasons to like it and he appears to have put some thought into why. So we track one down for him and its been an OK car for him - like I care at this point as long as he gets him from point A to B.

my daughter is turning 16 and I ask her what kind of car she wants - her answer is she doesn't care as long as its yellow or purple.
